Natterings, Notions

Notes

Um. Halftime at the OU-K-State game. I'm really lovin' it, even though I do want both teams to win, I like seeing KSU in the driver's seat at 21-7. I also think that it would be neat to see OU have an undefeated season, but I'll forego that for a KSU win. Well, duh.

I almost got up at 08:00 this morning, but I talked myself out of it and slept in 'til about 10:00 or so. Karen and Kim had invited me to go to Lawrence with them to see the KU xmas chorals, but I opted out of that..

After she left, I got a call from a kid who's a student at the x-ray school who was having computer problems, and he brought his machine over and I worked on that most of the afternoon, got it going just fine, I hope. He was gonna take it home and put all of the drivers on it.

Another gloomy cold day here. I went out once, and I re-noticed a phenomena that I had noticed a coupla days ago... my hands really hurt when they get cold. Wonder if that's another effect of the diabetes? I'm gonna have to keep my gloves handier, I guess. I usta not wear gloves unless it was about zero or so.

Speaking of hands, I've decided to go with thinking that I'm allergic to latex, and I'll go latex-free for a few weeks and see if that works. Yesterday, I did three venipunctures wearing gloves and didn't have a problem at all. What I have been doing is making the puncture then donning the gloves to do the tricky and potentially bloody part, getting the valve on the teflon sheath. From now on, I will make an effort to be protected from start to finish.

Part of my decision is that the non-latex gloves give me a more sensitive touch, which is the opposite of what most people say about them. Go figger, heh. They are, however, much harder to get on.

KSU beat OU 35-7. Amazing, simply amazing. OSU didn't score after their first play of the first half. Hats off to Bill Snyder and his men.

I've been asked about the travelling tech deal, what was going on there. Well, I guess that I was remiss about telling that story... it seems like the market kinda dried up about the time I decided to get into it. Additionaly, my health has become more of a concern, and I want to stay around medical people that I trust. And I'm getting too old, but that's only part of the health deal. I just wisht that I would have thought about this ten years ago.

It's been a pretty laid-back day, I've not accomplished anything of note but I've been relaxing, and that's what weekends are for, right? Lotsa reading on the web, some guitar and keyboard playing and singing, not much else. Well, yeah, I did get the PS replaced on one of my Linux boxes, it's been down for six weeks, and I've had the PS for it for two, at least. Yeah, procrastination, ain't it grand?

Thanx for being here!
