Natterings, Notions

Notes

Crummy night for sleeping, last night was. Or at least it was for me, since I didn't sleep at all until about 09:00. I had wakened Karen about 04:00 for a backrub, but the majik wasn't there this time, dammit. She gave me a back- and leg-rub when she got up about 09:00, though, and that did the trick.

So I was determined, no matter what the temptation, that I would stay up all day, and I have.

I ventured out about 14:00 to get a 12-foot RCA cable to hook the TV up to the system, I was just going to the Radio Shack just across 29th street. Short trip, heh? Not!

Just as I was ready to make to turn into the shopping center, along comes a line of motorcycles towards me down 29th, and there's a cop leading them. Well, I figgered that would probably take about three minutes... but they just kept comin' and comin' and comin'. Probably five thousand of them, there were. I decided not to wait, and there was a Hollywood Video store on the near side of the street, and surely they would have audio cables, right? Heh, wrong again. In fact, the girl that I asked looked at me with a blank look on her face, like, "Cables? Never heard of it, who was in it?" I didn't bother to explain, I just went out and leaned on my truck and watched the parade.

Toys for Tots is what was going on. Hells' Angels trying to change their image, heh. Many of them had holiday decorations on their bikes, and there were a few santas and elves riding too.

So, no big deal. Ten minutes later, I decided to walk across the street instead of driving, and I went into Big Lots, where I've seen audio cables before. But not today, they'd re-arranged the store, and it was completely full of shoppers, so I just went three doors down to the Radio Shack, where they have two kinds of cables... the really fancy, expensive ones prominently on display and the completely, thoroughly adequate cheaper ones that they keep hidden.

So I got home and hooked up and it sounds great, but of course no surround sound from the TV 'cause it's not that kind of TV, I guess.

And we watched the Chiefs game, of course, and it came out good, as everyone expected. Not fantastic, but OK, and a W is always good. During the game I mounted the surround speakers and realized that I have to make an access hole into the attic so that I can run the wires properly in the ceiling. I've been meaning to do that ever since we finished up the kitchen and closed that hole up that was in the former garage. I guess that the time is now, heh.

Due to the ascendancy of time, and more notably fatigue, and possibly an impending cold or other ailment, I'm gonna bow out now until December.

Thanx for being here!
