I did get a good long sleep last night, made it to work on time.

Things went downhill from there.

The night tech was trying to do a head CT from the ER.

It did not go well.

The ddamned ( yep, that's doubleD damned!) machine was failing again, in the same way that it failed Sunday. Not a good sign, not good at all.

Engineers made it work again.

And then it failed for good about 10:45 or so.

Engineers did what they should have done last week... replaced a part. The part that was blowing the power supply, I suspect. Don't know fer sure, but I suspect it.

Well, they didn't replace it yet, just wired it out of the circuit.

It's on order.

It's the brake that keeps the table from going too fast either up or down. Without it, it takes about 550 pounds on the table to make it lose height. And the weight limit for the table is... 440 pounds. And it's one of a pair, the other one is still in operation.

But with it malfunctioning, the machine is useless.

So, we got the machine back about 13:00 or so, made the day go much better.

In other news, one of our physicians here in Topeka was either murdered or suicided, they found his body today in his truck west of Topeka in a closed quarry.. Sad thing, whatever the cause. He was reported missing on Sunday, when he didn't make his rounds at either hospital after leaving at 06:00. He also had tickets for the Chiefs game.

After work today, I went over to a friend's house to work on her computer, which was running very slowly and wouldn't connect to the internet. She had never defragged her drive, so I did that, and got it running a whole lot faster, but I couldn't fix the internet thing. I was there for a coupla hours, and I think that I'm gonna try to talk her into getting a cable connection.

So, this is short, but I have a dentist's appointment tomorrow at 07:00, so I really need to get to bed. Additionally, I'm on call again starting tomorrow night until Friday morning, so I really need to get my rest, heh.
