OK, first I'll finish up what happened last night. I'd gotten called in about 23:00, and as I walked in the door to the ER, I was greeted with, "O, did you hear about our incoming trauma patients? Three of them?" Well, no I hadn't, I'd just come on to do an appendix study.

So I did the appy study on a very nice patient and I noticed that the images weren't going to the Synapse PACS system. Hmmm... major problem. Not so much for me, but for the x-ray people.

Well, at the time I didn't have any patients, so I thought that I'd give the x-ray people a hand. I'm not really good for much over there any more, all of the equipment is new since I went to CT, but I ran films back and forth and tried to get some help getting Synapse back up. It took a half-hour just to get ahold of the MIS guy, the nursing supervisor had to go find him, his pager must've been off or something like that.

In the meantime, I got to do two more patients, both typical Saturday-night assault victims. One of them was a real trip, told me that I was the most beautiful man that he'd ever seen. Cracked the nurse that was with me completely up, that one did. The other one wasn't funny at all, and he kept gritting his teeth horribly, I was afraid that he was going to break them all out the way he was going. And of course he wouldn't hold his head still, so I got a lousy exam even after three tries. It was adequate for seeing major stuff, though, not like it was a complete waste.

The system finally came up around 02:30, and I fixed the things that needed fixing there and then I checked with the ER and came home and finished up yesterday's entry and went to bed about 04:30.

And I didn't get wakened until about 10:30 when a bill collector called. After that, I just mostly frittered the day away playing music and trying to catch up on journal-reading. I still haven't gotten caught up from the week that I was gone to Journalcon '03 yet... which reminds me, I still have unanswered e-mail from that meet-up, dammit, I hate it when I do that!

O'yeah, I watched the K-State-Nebraska game this afternoon, that took a hunk of time. K-State won, their first win in Lincoln since the Lynn Dickey days, 1968 I think is what they said. The score was pretty lop-sided, but the K-State defense didn't let down, and that's a good thing, Nebraska does have a potent offense if ya let 'em..

And then I watched About Schmidt tonight, I don't know really what to think about it. One of Nicholson's poorest roles yet, though. I was rather disappointed.

And now it's off to bed for me. Tomorrow I'll watch the KC game at noon, but right now I have no other plans. Karen will probably be back before noon and watch the game with me, I hope.
