Natterings, Notions

Notes

So. Today I took my camera to work.

And do you know what happened?

Why, nothing. Nothing happened.

I really have to look at the possibility that nothing photographically interesting happens around me because most interesting stuff is traumatic to someone, and I have an aura that extends about 500 yards (or meters, if you lean that way) around me that's a calm zone. Nothing interesting happens in that calm zone. Nobody gets hurt, nobody gets scared, no houses burn, nobody dies.

A truly benevolent aura, heh.

Doesn't work at the hospital, of course, and I think that might be because of all of the non-benevolent auras that are present there. Of course, people are always dying in hospitals, that's what they go there for. Well, not really, but you know, we can't save *everybody*, especially when they're 4/5 dead when they come in. And sick people have non-benevolent auras, yes they do. And my benevolent aura can only fight so many that aren't.

But what the hell, y'do what y'can.

And I work hard on my aura, harder than any of my readers realize, I really do.

Anyhoo, we put the comforter on the bed last night, and I snuggled down in my nice water bed with that wonderful comforter over me and I snoozed off without a backrub, even.

And then I even got up and around in time!

Hard day at work, though. I was the runner, and constantly behind and confused. As I have said before, I don't mind working hard, in fact I like working hard, but I really hate working confused. But I made it through the day, and got off on time with no twinges of guilt at leaving the night tech with several patients who had, despite instructions to their nurses, eaten lunch.

We have to wait six hours after a patient has eaten to inject them with contrast. This rule has pissed off a lot of people (patients, nurses and doctors) and it's saved a lot of lives. Unfortunately, it's inconvenient for everyone.

Karen is off eating supper with Kim and on of her erstwhile work friends, she'll be back about 19:00 or so, then we'll take off for Stingers to listen to Jody sing and drink beer and visit with Lee Ann. Jody recently spent some time in Nashville writing songs with some big-name people, and I'm looking forward to hearing how that went.

And now I'm gonna go play with the keyboard until Karen gets home.

Thanx for being here!
