2,646. That's the number of e-mails in my spam box when I arrived home. Well, I don't really know what it was when I arrived home, I did spend some time with Karen before I checked my e-mail... after all, missing her is what got me home a day early. I had Tyler's clock set for 6:54 or something like that, whatever he had it set at. I hauled out of bed about 07:35 and took my pills and bid him goodbye, he got up as I was doing the last of the packing. I really need to see him more often, dammit. Anyhoo, I was on the road at 08:00, and I stopped for coffee after a coupla hours on the road. Just barely missed a deer north of Huntsville, and again just north of ElDorado. Got through Dallas without mishap, hit the Red River at 12:02 and OK City was not a problem. Cruised into Enid at 16:00. Mom was feeling *much* better than she was last Wednesday, and she looked and acted better too, very chipper. I called my old buddy Jess Roach, and we met at a new bar, the old one had closed down. It's really surprising that the health department hadn't closed them down years ago, but that's another story altogether, and I'll save it for later... or maybe never. Jess was not feeling well, although he said that he was better than he had been for quite a while. He's had a viral pneumonia since late April, and they're finally getting it knocked down. He still hasn't missed a day of work, despite running temps of up to 104.5 on a daily basis. He said that it hasn't been over 100 for two weeks now, and he's starting to realize how bad he was feeling since he's improved. Normally I wouldn't spend much time on someone else's health, but both of the boys have met Jess, and I don't feel like e-mailing them the whole story... besides which, I don't have, really, much else to talk about. But I do love solo road trips. Lotsa time to think and scheme about how to make myself an internet icon, and then how to turn that into money.... Anyway, while Jess and I were visiting, I really started longing for Karen, and it didn't take long for me to come to the conclusion that I simply *had* to see her tonight. So I bid Mom goodbye and once again pointed the Camry northward. Well, I had to go east 30 miles first, but you know what I meant. So. More coffee than I've drank in a long time got me here, and I'm happy. The only real problem with the trip is that I didn't get to spend nearly as much time with Tyler as I wanted to. And this machine seems to be choking, it's been up for too long without any attention, heh. It needs some lovin', it does. So... I'm off to shower and sleep... sleep has not been high on my agenda lately, and it's right there at the top now. The back entries can wait until tomorrow... I hope that you don't mind.
