Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Before I start my bitching about the current day, there are a coupla things that I've been wanting to write about.

The first is a mix-up from the lady who's handling the registration at the Austin Journalcon. She wrote to JD and I, thinking that I had registered and not paid, and that JD had paid but not registered. Of course, we're both done both, and could prove it.

I got a return e-mail, saying that yeah, everything is OK, and she added at the end:"Now I've got the Franklin Family figured out!"

Heh. Got us figgered out, does she? The whole fam damily? I don't think so, lady, here's your consolation prize...

The other thing is a dream that I recently had about Marva, a friend of mine who died several years ago, and whose funeral I didn't attend.

She had shaved her head, and was working in a soup kitchen or something like that. She wouldn't look me in the eye, and when I asked her about the funeral, pretending like I'd been there, she just said that it was all a fake. Then one of her friends told me to stop bothering her, she had work to do, and she turned around and went back to the kitchen.

Once again, I've resolved to start going to funerals, otherwise these people will haunt my dreams forever. And I think that I remember writing about dreaming about Marva before. She was a good friend with a bad disease, and I miss her.

OK... today. I said that I was going to bed early last night, but I didn't. And I didn't sleep worth a crap once I got to bed, either. Up and down three or four times, and I had to pull the C-PAP off to get any sleep at all.

Today at work was fine, we finally had a full crew back, and the inspection, such as it was, went well. It was really just a ten-minute walk-through, no beg deal at all, and no gigs. Well, we had to label our lemonade pitcher... but that was a suggestion, and accomplished right before the inspectors' eyes.

The rest of the day was spent running, I was in the room taking care of patients today, and my old legs are really sore tonight, as usual. And then tomorrow I'm the runner.

And we had an unfortunate incident today... we have to do our venipunctures in what we call the holding area, where the crash cart is kept. So one of the tech had just finished putting a line in as the inspectors were gathered around the crash cart, which is in the same room but separated by a partition. It's a kinda U-shaped room... anyway, he didn't get the cap securely attached to the teflon tube on the IV set, and the patient dripped blood out the door and into the waiting area without the tech noticing it.

Luckily, the inspectors went out the other door, and didn't notice the gore on the floor... there wasn't really much blood lost, but a little blood goes a long ways on a floor, y'know.

Anyways, I did get out of there on time, and Karen had gone to watch Patrick play football, she came home about 17:45 or so.

And tonight was going to be a work night... Matt was coming over, and we were going to do some scraping and spackling.

Well, Matt *DID* come over, but nobody was motivated to work, me included. Especially me, I should say. It didn't take long for Karen and Matt to pick up on this and take the ball and run with it, heh.

And I'm *still* not motivated to do anything, even this. LeeAnn (Jody Scotts' SO) sent me some pix of Jody for his website, but I'm too tired to do anything with them tonight... and this is a project that I'm enthusiastic about!

So you can imagine how I'm feeling about spackling, heh.

Karen bought Matt some Haloween PEEPS, and there were some black cats in the mix, and I talked him out of those, thinking that they were licorice-flavored, but no such luck. Nonetheless, they're wonderful.

OK. Pills, then bed. Damn, I'm tard.

Thanx for being here!
