Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Well, today I got a little break from getting up late.

Yep, I got a call from the hospital about 04:30.

This one was just an instructional call, though... I didn't have to get out of bed, but I did have to think. But it worked out all right, and then I snuggled back into half of my warm blanket. Karen had somehow absconded with the other half, giving her three-fourths. I'm going to resist saying anything about how the world is so unfair to its fairest proponents. And I mean fairest in all of the good ways, of course.

So... just about asleep, the phone rings again. Well, this time I gotta get up and go in, the night tech is overloaded with radiography and she's got a CT that needs doing. So I quickly shave and dress and go in, and I wish all day (and probably my coworkers do too) that I would have had time for a shower.

After my 07:00 counterpart got there, I clocked out and went upstairs and had a three-egg omelette... no carbs, just lots of other bad stuff. Mmmmm, but O! So good!

The day progressed, and I was really hungry by the time 12:30 got here and I had to leave for the dentist.

And just what the hell are all of these people doing out driving around Topeka in the middle of the day and getting in my way? Don't they have job to do, kids to tend, something?

And, of course, the five-minute job at the dentists' turned out to be 45 minutes. He was upset that I'd gone ten days without the temp crown. Well, hell, I told them that I'd lost it when I set up the appointment.

Anyhoo, it seems that teeth tend to fill a vacuum. Meaning that the new permanent crown had to be whittled and filed and ground on. And then, finally, the words, "Don't chew on that for at least an hour!"

Well, I was pretty well famished, but I had a 14:00 aspiration/drainage procedure, and I clocked back in at exactly 14:00... and found out that it wasn't going to happen until 15:00.

We actually got started at exactly... 16:00.

Got it done pretty rapidly, though, and I shut the "Z" down at 17:00.

Then I had to go back to the department, and fix some computer foul-ups. I had left myself logged into the computer, but someone else had logged me out and logged themselves in, but I didn't check, and I spent 15 minutes trying to fix a problem that had to be fixed under my log-in. I couldn't figger out what I was doing wrong, heh. And then I felt like a world-class fool when I did figger it out.

Came home, sat down. And here I still sit. But not for long... shower, bed... in that order, shortly.

Thanx for being here!
