Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Saturday, September 20, 2003 18:07

Well, today I'm *NOT* tard, nor even am I weary.

Yeah, it's that attitude thing, that and the fact that I got lots of good sleep last night. Didn't get up until about 09:30 or so, it was nice.

I decided to get the bad part of the day done, so I went in to work about 11:00 and worked on the procedures until about 15:30, got them mostly done and left them with the co-worker on call to review. Tomorrow I'll take his notes and corrections and do the final printing and be done with that.

When I got home, I found the place was a mess.

Karen had got the grandkids working with her and got most of the wallpaper goop off of the long west wall and a good portion of the east wall. It's a messy job.

Shortly after I got home, though, the work stopped... I'm afraid that I set a bad example or something.

But I did get some pictures of Lacee and her friend Emilee, and Karen and Lacee, and Karen and me. Click to get bigger ones, as usual.

Karen has taken the girls out to the mall, and she'll be coming back shortly, so I need to get ready to go out to the Den with her to hear some music. So I better get shaved and prettied up, I guess. We'll probably stay until they close, since I feel pretty rested... and we're gonna have lots of fun!

This is the first bar that we went to see Jody in several weeks ago. Lots of drunk, unattractive people who are a lot of fun. Kind of a dumpy bar, but friendly. We haven't decided who's gonna do the drinking tonight, but Karen's limit is usually two beers, and mine is about four, and we're both pretty paranoid about the drinking and driving deal.

We will be doing some dancing too... ther is a small dance floor that usually gets pretty crowded, and there's always somebody there that trys to do that western dance where they move around the floor pretty rapidly, expecting everyone else to watch out for them. They will be drunk, of course, and people will fall down and laugh about it. At least, I hope that they'll laugh.

Which reminds me of a story about 30 years ago... I went to a wedding reception (where they had free beer, natch) of a German catholic couple. Well, there was polka music all night long. And after a while I figgered I could dance as well as those drunk Germans, heh. After all, I had legs, and I was just as drunk as the drunkest of them.

What I didn't reckon with, though, was that the girl that I was with was more than I little bit pissed off at me. And that she was mean, to boot.

And there was a supporting pole in the middle of the dance floor.

Well, you all know where this is going, right?

Yep, I was free-wheeling along, thinking that I was really dancing well, when she steered me into the pole.

Knocked me clear out, it did.

Luckily, I was dragged off of the floor before I was trampled to death.

And I had a headache for three straight days. One that couldn't be alleviated with the hair of the dog.

I hadn't thought about that in a long, long time. In fact, my ears are burning just thinking about it now.

What an ass I was!

I never went out with that girl again, although I did see her around a coupla times and she snubbed me. And I don't really know what got her mad at me, either. Specifically, I mean. But I had been dancing with a few of her friends.

So. Confession time is over, I gotta go get ready.

Thanx for being here!
