Crummy day, just 'cause my mouth hurts.

Work was OK, I was driving today, and we were fully staffed. Even go to go up to lunch! Which I couldn't eat much of, 'cause of the tooth situation....

I left about 14:20 to get to the dentists' office, and they took a coupla x-rays, then came back and took yet another one. The tooth isn't *quite* abscessed, but getting there, he said. There was a hazy area at the tip of the root, and a suggestion of a line between the crown and the tooth suggestive of cavitation.

So he gave me some antibiotics and some Tylenol III and sent me home. The logic there was that if the antibiotic made the pain go away, it's definitely abscessed, and if it doesn't, it's not, and then there's another cause that we have to go looking for. So there's about an 80% chance that I'll need a root canal, and about a 99% chance that I'll need a new crown.

I took the medications as soon as I got home, of course, and the Tylenol III doesn't seem to be doing much, I'm afraid, the real good will come when the antibiotics kick in. And actually, my whole face hurts on that side, since the infection seems to be pretty deep into the bone at the tip of the root.

At this point, I wish that I would've talked him into doing the root canal today, but given that the tooth hasn't been sensitive to hot/cold/sweet (sweet? What's that?) he thought it would be better to wait. Of course, I'm supposed to call if it doesn't get better... but the weekend is coming up. So I have an appointment on Tuesday at 13:50, if I can make it until then.

I spent a lot of time there, and then I had to wait for the prescriptions, so it was too late to go back to work... darn it.

Watching all of those poor New Yorkers on TV... power problems.

19:09...
So how many ways can CNN keep the story going? They have a new angle every five minutes, I think... someone new to talk to, some new scene to show... yeah, those people all have my sympathy, sez me as I sit here in the AC in Topeka, KS, far, far from any great power grid....

And as I write, I know that no, it's not really that far away, that it's not really unlikely that some of the power generated in Niagra is pushing the electrons lighting up my screen.

At least, the Nilknarf News server is still up, it's on LiquidWeb, somewhere in Minnesota, I think.

Karen fixed a wonderful supper, she cooked a pork roast and made the best broccoli/cauliflower casserole that I 've ever eaten using only one side of my mouth. She roasted a chicken, too, and I just had a little of that, and some dressing. Mighty tasty!

It will be interesting to read what the New York area journallers have to say about this, when they have the power to say it.

Karen, of course, is eagerly awaiting BabyBush coming on TV and soothing the country down in that inimitable oil-slick way of his. Heh, I wrote "oik" instead of "oil"! Sometimes I just kill me! Oik-slick, indeed!

In other breaking news... I love my PDA! Still reading Dracula, and I'm loving it. Yeah, I've seen the movie, but the book allows my imagination (and my dreams) run wild. of course, all books do that, that's what they're for... but movies are such an easy way out, y'know? For being entertained, but not for learning stuff. You can actually learn stuff from reading books... this is fiction that I'm talking about, of course.

I've taken a coupla the T-3 now, and the pain is ebbing somewhat, so I'm gonna try to go to sleep now, and have Karen awaken me when she comes to bed so that I can take another of the clindamycin and get on schedule with that. It's an antibiotic that targets tooth infections specifically, ain't that cool? But... four times a day, it's hard to keep track of. Sounds like a job for... my PDA, heh!

Goody goody! The lights are back on in New York, so all of my fans there will not have to miss my entry for tonight!

Yeah, yeah, it's all about ME ME ME!

Heh.

Thanx for being here!
