One helluva nice day. Spent most of it on the water, and consequently got burned, even though I did apply sunscreen... but that was before I got in the water. Well, I did put sunscreen on my burned forearms again.... And I caught a coupla fish, too... both about two pounds, bass, of course. I outfished Gary, who was the only other fisherman, by... two fish.
Tard, though... having fun is hard work. Plus, it's about 150 feet up to the house, with about a hundred of that being vertical, and we did that three times today. Luckily, Duane put a bench just about 50 feet after I really need one, so I did make a stop there all three times. All those damned steps, heh. Good for my body, I'm sure.
And I also remembered why I wear a back brace when I go fishing... I didn't today, and my back is killing me tonight.
We came back to the house about 19:30 or so, and made the tortuous trip up the steps. Had steak and baked potatoes and salad and it was completely wonderful. I'd had a piece of cake for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch and I cleaned up my plate, even though the meat was a little too done for my preference. Then we cleaned up and went for another boat ride in the moonlight, and that was fun too. Gary and I attempted to fish, but we'd not brought a flashlight, and I couldn't get my knots to work (different knots for SpiderWire(™), so I gave up on the buzz-bait idea that I'd sold Gary on. When we came back from that trip, we had a delicious strawberry cake that Karen had made along with Pecan Praline ice cream. I'd brought my blood testing kit, but I'd not put the strips in, so I have no idea, other than guessing, how I did on the carbs this weekend, but I think it was pretty good. Anyway, Nancy and Gary got out their instruments and we played a few tunes, I taught them a couple and they tried to teach me several. They are way outta my class, though... they've been playing for years, Nancy plays a guitar and Gary played a 5-string banjo and a bass fiddle... not at the same time, of course. And Nancy sings pretty well, too. And I'm absolutely exhausted. The picture is of the sunset Saturday night....
