Bitch of a day, but.... Then a fun drive down to Bella Vista, Arkansas. I really enjoy travelling with Karen, she is my perfect companion, and I am *so* lucky to have her! We met Gary and Nancy (I work with Nancy) on the east side of Lawrence, and she gave us a two-way radio, so that we could be in contact as we caravanned down... We spent a lot of time on two-lane roads until we hit 71 in Missouri. So we drove and drove and drove, stopping to eat a a McDonald's in a small town before we hit 71... I had a crispy chicken sandwich, probably all of the carbs that I could eat all day... which worked out just all right, since we haven't eaten since then. We called Duane (my other coworker) and his wife Sandy, and followed them from the main highway to their house. By this time, it was full-on dark, and we could tell that we weren't in Kansas anymore... seemed like mountain roads to me! I'm looking forward to seeing it all in the daytime. Tomorrow will be spent in the boat, or rather on the boat, they have a 28-foot pontoon, and we'll be doing some fishing and swimming and just being out on the lake. I'm really looking forward to it! We sat around gabbing after we did the tour of the house and the boat... coming up the steps from the lake damn near wore me out, my legs are just no damned good any more, I think. Not that the rest of me isn't worn out too....
And work wasn't really too bad today, mostly 'cause I was looking forward to getting away for the weekend. There was a drainage procedure hanging, but it was so iffy that I really didn't feel guilty about leaving at all. And, with my present attitude, I wouldn't have felt guilty about it anyway.
