I didn't get called last night until about 21:00, and then I only did three patients all night long. The first one was a five-minute job, and then after I got clocked out and ready to leave, I got a call to do the second one. I was having some machine troubles, so I re-booted and everything worked OK, so I did the second one with no problems. So I clocked out and stopped by the ER and the doc said (knowing full well that I was on my way out the door), "You *did* know about that patient coming from Seneca that needs a CT?" Well, of course I didn't... Seneca is about 70 miles away, so I figgered to roam around and talk to some of my old buddies.... I wound up sitting at the security station gabbing with the security guys for about an hour... roamed around for another thirty minutes... still no patient. Finally showed up, and I clocked in and did the exam and then went home. It was 01:30 by then, and I figgered that it would really be silly to try to go to sleep since it was, after all, a Saturday night, so I diddled around on the computer for a while. I gave up and went to bed at 03:30 and I slept until... 11:00! Yep, no calls. Color me amazed... and pretty well rested. Unfortunately, I woke up about 06:00 and started worrying about missing a call. After all, it was Saturday night? I didn't worry enough about it to actually get up and check the machine, though... I'd left the answering machine on, and I really shouldn't do that when I'm on call. But I'd let the cell in my pocket hanging by the bed, and I also had a pager in the pocket, so I should've been OK. But still... I had dreams about them not being able to get ahold of me, 'cause I'm kinda hard to wake up sometimes.... I've been over to Kim's once today, re-booted her router and showed her how to re-boot her machine with the USB wireless device hooked up... ya gotta disconnect the device, then re-boot, then re-connect it. A hassle and a pain. I think that what I'll do is switch the PCI wireless board in Lacee's machine with Kim's USB device and everything will be hunky-dory. Or not. I'll burn that bridge when I get there, heh. In other news... Karen was wanting me to grow some hair back on my head and face, and I was getting kinda tired of shaving it, but... it feels strange. And I'm not really sure that I like it. O'well, I'll give it another coupla weeks, anyway. The things one does for love, heh. 16:32... I figgered that, even as hot as it is, I could be outside washing the redwood deck and cedar fencing with the power washer. Which I haven't used since last year, and then not too much. So I spent about a half-hour getting it ready to go... and then, after I'd been using it about a half-hour, something popped, and I was only getting about 300 PSI... just a little more than you can get with the hose by itself. Well, it's probably fifteen years old, so tomorrow I'm heading out to Sears to get a new one. Getting things clean relatively easily is one of the primary jobs, after all. While I was getting it working, washing away, I stepped on a board which had completely rotted away from its support, and I marked that one mentally as one which shall be replaced. And the one next to it. And the next one.... By the time I die, I'll know everything that there is to know about how not to build a deck, heh. Crap. I just looked through the Sears ad, no washers on sale. I know that I saw two or three last weekend, dammit. Not a Sears, though. They don't carry them any more, they told me. However, Target has one. But they're rating it as 13 Amps, while everyone else rates them as maximum PSI. I guess that I'll have to go out to the store and read the box that it comes in. There must be a lot more profit in the gas-powered ones, everyone has them, heh. I'm going in to work early again tomorrow, but not all week, just one day, then the guy that rotates early with me will be back for the rest of the week. And the other FT tech will be gone for the rest of the week, after being off Friday and having to come back for Monday. That means, of course, another week of being short a tech; it also means that I need to get to bed.
Well, back to the deck rebuilding project... for that is truly what it is, at this point.
