Whoah. This had been, without a doubt, the single most worst day that I have had in the last, uh, maybe ten years. I had, for starts, one helluva time getting up this morning. Lotsa bad dreams and stuff like that. Then I got to work, to find two of the engineers looking over the innards of the main CT machine. Not a good sign, heh. Not at all. To make a long story short, we did a full schedule ++++++++ (the plusses are emergencies)(some of them were *really* emergencies) on our backup scanner. Using the backup scanner at all sucks... using it for a whole day? Supersucks. I got outta there at 17:00 or so, we finally got caught up. The real kicker... I was the "runner" today, and run I did. Being the runner on a normal day requires about two miles on the old legs; today, with the main machine being down, it was about ten miles. I'm happy that this day is over, I am I am! However, since the call guy is going to be there all night tonight (the backup call tech is not familiar with the backup machine) I volunteered to take call tomorrow from 19:00-07:00 Sunday AM. Just tryin' to be a nice guy, plus it looks really good on the old paycheck.... Karen is going to be gone most of next week, down to Wichita to see Debbie and her mom... her mom has a painful lesion on her shoulder, which the docs are afraid to biopsy, for some reason... probably because it would entail making a decision about how her life might end... I dunno. I really hope that I can set it up where nobody has to make any such decisions about me, or, that if they do, they make the ones that I would make. I have to work on that, heh. Now I've gotta go over to Kim's and do some networking... hopefully, Steve has the cable connected right...
