(A caution! Clicking on the pictures will bring up HUGE files.)

I'm sitting in Betty's "parlor" while she and Karen visit. We got a very late start on the day, and we just haven't been inclined to hurry up in any instance today.

We stuttered a coupla times getting out of Topeka, and I'm still not really sure that the coffeepot is turned off, but Karen swears that it is....

I re-read the camera instruction book on the way down... I just love it when Karen drives, I'm a really happy passenger in most cases.

After we got up this morning, I worked on getting the camera to download to the laptop, but I was frustratingly unsuccessful. Worked on it a coupla hours off and on whilst getting ready for the trip.

I tried working on it in the car, but there was way too much glare to see the screen, so I gave up on it. However, after we got to Betty's I set it up and looked in the device manager and saw that it still wanted a driver, although I'd loaded the USB driver a number of times, that just wasn't good enough. So I loaded the driver from that screen and viola! It worked just great, all of a sudden.

I did take a few pictures of Betty(Betty has a neck problem, so her head is permanently tilted to the left) and Karen, and I hope that I can remember to attach them to this entry, or at least links. One thing about this camera, it takes huge files... which is, of course, what makes it good. But that's bad if I forget to reduce the resolution before I post them, 'cause it's no fun to download a huge file when you're not expecting to.

We met Ric ande Deb going out of the door at Betty's when we were coming in, and we were going to meet up with them at their house after they'd finished up with some volunteer work that they were doing. In the meantime, we went to Sam's to get some oatmeal... we get those microwave packets of Quaker Oats, I think that I could probably live on them, and that wouldn't be a bad idea for me....

Karen made a friend in Sams, the lady in line ahead of us. She asked us to watch her cart while she went to get something else to replace something that was dirty... Karen and her were buddies in about five minutes, talking about the deals on clothes that they'd got at Sam's.

After we got to Ric and Deb's, we decided to go out to Hobby Lobby, a store whose door I had never before darkened. Interesting place, really. I was fascinated by the balls that they had that were labeled "Made in the Phillipines" There were all kinds, from about three to eight inches in diameter... they were made of something hollow, they were very light.

Then we had to come back, since Karen wanted to change clothes, and then we went out to eat again at Jason's Deli, the place that we went to in Lawrence a coupla weeks ago. Salad bar, and it was excellent. Well, maybe not, but definitely pretty good.

Then I took a few pictures of Ric and Deb and Jeff, their son. And of their cats, one of which, Garfield, has got to be the fattest cat that I've ever seen, 26.7 pounds. They have a recent acquisition, a much slimmer and younger beautiful long-haired cat who so far hasn't held still long enough for me to get a good picture. He's a lover, though, a rare thing in a cat. A people-lover, I mean.

And now, the day has pretty much wound down, and I have too.

Thanx for being here!
