Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Wednesday, April 23, 2003 18:03

Last night I was contemplating this journalling thing, and I kinda decided on writing about writing today, since I hadn't done that for a while.

Actually, I was going to write about "Popular" journal writing, and this notion was spurred by the fact that practically nobody has me on their recommended reading lists with all of the popular journals, but I still get a lot of hits on a weekly basis. So I'm thinking that maybe I should increase my exposure.

I was actually thinking this way, perhaps subconsciously, a coupla weeks ago when I joined the Three-Way Action Portal. It's a glorified notification dealie, one for which you pay, which in turn supports the community, which is a neat way of doing it. And, incidentally, it's a neat community.

So all of this stuff has been going through my head lately, along with all of the other stuff, and I'm really not unhappy being where I'm at with my journal, after all.

And then....

This morning when I got up I noticed an email... "You have been nominated" was the subject. I clicked on it, and damned if it wasn't genuine! Yep, I've been nominated for the "Legacy Award (Hall of Fame) category". To learn more about the Diarist Awards, go here.

By no means am I yet a finalist, I have just been nominated... but it does warm the cockles of my heart, it truly does, and bless the kind soul who nominated me. And yes, I am perfectly qualified to bless souls, both kind and otherwise.

So, color me tickled pink, even if nothing else comes of it.

The day.. well, the day was busy. I was once again in the room, and ran my legs off. We were a tech short in the morning, and just really busy throughout the afternoon.

I had gone in at 07:00, since the tech that was not there in the morning was the 07:00 tech, and I was happy to leave at 15:30. As I left the building, the raindrops were starting to fall, but I made it to the truck OK without getting soaked.

The radar had shown showers and thunderstorms moving towards Topeka all day, but the line seemed to have stalled just to the west... but then it started moving again, and it's been raining ever since I got home, we've probably got an inch or so already. Nice, steady rain, it'll be filling up the ponds and lakes this time, since the almost three inches that we got a few days ago pretty well saturated the ground.

And I like rain. I like thunderstorms better, of course, but rain is neat even without the wind and hail and general excitement.

And sleep. I love sleep, and I'm gonna go get me some right now. The server seems to be down, so I'll probably put this up sometime in the wee hours....
