I went to bed pretty early last night after watching the second game. All other factors being equal, I believe that the Jayhawks will wipe the floor up with the Orangemen. But of course, all other factors are *never* equal, so it's a tossup. I'm still rooting for the Jayhawks. So I got up this morning and reset all of the clocks. I love daylight savings time, but I think that we should stay on it all year... the changing every six months or so is a killer. Spent some time today hooking up the NilkyCam. I've got it pointed out the window in the computer room, and I plan on just leaving it on forever. Watch my grass grow, heh. The day was spent poorly... I got up early, about 06:30 (yesterday time) and reset all of the clocks. Goofed around most of the morning, took a shower and went to TacoTico for my lunch, and when I got back Karen and Andy and Drew were unloading. I Anyhoo, it was good to have Karen home. We watched a movie (see below) and then she went in and laid down for a while... spending time with Drew wears people out, heh. Rain today, about a third of an inch. Nice, cool weather, but no major storms. 20:17... Yeah, nobody will ever play scrabble™ with me any more, dammit. Anyways, scrabble™ words are ones that you never get a chance to use in normal conversation, at least not in Kansas... and it's just really cool to be able to use them. Of course, people don't want to play scrabble™ because I have a reputation for cheating. I do believe that my mother started that rumor, and everyone that I've played with since then has talked to her... but I don't actually *cheat*, y'know... I just make up words fairly frequently. And I know a lot of words, too. So people are afraid to challenge me. That's not really cheating, is it? And I'm pretty good at making up words that sound real. But speaking of cheating... Long, long ago, in a place far, far away... Ft Stewart, Georgia, to be precise... I cheated at poker frequently. Every month, in fact. Shortly after I got in the army, I noticed that there were a number of guys who played poker every payday... and there were some of them who won pretty consistently. I befriended one of them, and he told me the trick... it's not really cheating, but damned close, and it'll get you shot, if there are shooters around. So I became partners with another poker player. He was never a friend, and I can't remember his name, but I remember his face. We would get in a game, and if either of us had a good hand, we would "bump" the pot. We had a small number of signals, and we were damned good. One or the other of us would walk away with four or five paychecks every month. And then we'd meet at the PX or the theater or somewhere to divide the pot up. And we never got caught. I think that we had about 14 months that we worked this. Not something that I'm proud of, really. And I blew all of the money that I made on whisky and dope. Interestingly, I've never cheated on a lover or a wife or a friend.... The KC Grandma just brought the grandkids home... Lacee got a new mountain bike for her birthday... KC grampa works at Cabella's in KC, and they got Patrick one last year... expensive bikes, pretty damned cool-looking. so we have the grandkids again until Tuesday night, when Kim and Steve get home. And I'm really looking forward to the game tomorrow night! O'yeah, I almost forgot... hey, you right-wing patriots! Why isn't Saddam using his Weapons of Mass Destruction? Huh? Huh? 'Cause he doesn't *HAVE* any, dummies! BabyBush *LIED* to you! Imagaine that! A fun movie, lots of action and fun and the ending is just perfect and all of the bad guys die and the good guys don't. In the Mail: On the shelf:
wasn't expecting them back until late this evening, but Andy wanted to get back early for some reason or another....
Dammit! This XP box keeps going out when the webcam is connected. Must be a weak power supply or something like that. But anyway, what really pisses me off is that I had made over a million points on the bookworm game, and now I have to start all over again. But that's OK, the game is only meaningful in that it builds my vocabulary, and I get a chance to use my scrabble™ words that I've got stored in my head.
