Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Lotsa sleep last night! I went to sleep shortly after 20:30 and slept clear through until 05:30 this morning. I didn't have to go to work until 08:00, but I knew that I should get up early anyway...

O'wait! I didn't sleep clear through, I had to get up and pee about 03:00, and I remember thinking how nice it was that I could sleep another coupla hours....

And speaking of sleeping, they're something that I've been wanting to write about for the last coupla months. When I lay down to sleep, I'm mostly on my stomach, with my face turned to my right... so the right side of my face is up. For some reason or another, this keeps my sinuses clear.

However, before I go to sleep, I have to turn my face to the left... I do this without volition, and I even try to not do it, but I'm not awake enough to stop myself. And then I can't turn back until my nose stops up and I find that it's hard to breathe, but I can't remember turning back... and then when I wake up, I'm always on my back. Go figger.

And, like I said, I've been thinking that I'll write about this for a long time, and I finally did! So I have one more of life's little tasks behind me....

Anyhoo, today at work was a real bitch. I had traded with another tech to come in early, and he warms the machine up differently than I do... I reboot it, then warm it up, but he warms it up, then reboots it. But he got busy doing other stuff, and by the time he got back into the control room, the screensaver had shut off the big red "I AIN'T GONNA WORK!" error message. As I was getting ready to put the first patient's data into the machine I saw it...

So I called the engineers, and they came and worked on it for about 90 minutes before they got it to come up. And we had a biopsy to do on the backup machine, so we couldn't use it... we were bogged down.

About 09:45 we were able to do our first patient of the day, and by noon we were almost caught up... but by 15:00 we were once again five patients behind.

I finally got outta there at about 17:30... more OT, mo' money, heh. Mo tard, huh.

Patrick spent most of the weekend with us, and he spent some time on Karen's machine... and I found out that he had downloaded a bunch of glitzy stuff that had put ads all over the place, and even a coupla trojans. I don't think that anything got to any of the rest of the machines, but I don't think so, at least not on the main ones, and the Linux boxes are immune, of course.

Another beautiful day today, supposed to get colder tomorrow, though. Ahhhh, springtime in Kansas! Waiting for the tornados....
