Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Weird... I've been writing the date as the thirteenth all day long, dammit.

But it only makes sense. Today wasn't as bad as I thought that it'd be... it was worse. Much worse. I didn't hardly like it at all.

I got there a bit early and clocked in and started running... running pretty slowly, but still running.

And things gradually sped up, faster and faster and faster and faster!

And then people started dying and stuff slowed down for a while. Just for a while.

We had two ICU patients in a row that ate up nearly two hours of table time, and we had patients lined up waiting to get in until almost 18:00. When the last one rolled in the door, I left, wishing the evening tech good luck as I left... he's on call all weekend, lucky guy. Next weekend it's my turn in the barrel.

Our weekends are going to be bad for a while... there will not be anyone working on third shift who can do CTs, so whoever's on call has to do every patient. That gets pretty bad by Sunday. There is another tech who has offered to take call every Sunday night so that we can get some rest, though, and that makes it easier.

In other news, the Nilky SETI group has hit the 7500 work units mark!

And it seems like I'm doing pretty well at controlling my blood sugar, eating at home is a big part of that, I think... still haven't tried exercising, though... there's just not enough time!

And then there's the theory that your heart is only gonna last for just so many beats, why waste them on exercising? Getting your heart rate up, using this theory, will shorten your life span. And who knows, after all? Not me, I've been living on gravy time since '89....

Drew is staying with us tonight, and tomorrow Karen is going to Lawrence to pick up Brian after watching him play basketball... and then tomorrow evening, my buddy Duane and his wife are coming over for some of Karen's famous lasagna... yeah, I'm only gonna eat one helping, and not make a pig of myself. It's getting easier, especially since I know that I'm losing weight.

A pretty day today, and supposed to be a beautiful weekend. Then Monday night, things are supposed to change and get wet, with snow a possibility on Thursday, and rain all next weekend. We do need the rain, in spite of yesterday's argument against it....

And it's still pretty early, but I think that I'm going to bed anyway, I had to work awfully hard today and I'm pretty much tired all over.
