I haven't been paying much attention to the weather lately, so it ups and bites me in the ass. Well, not really... but I was surprised this morning to hear the words, "Winter Weather Watch" on NPR. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to sit in the truck and listen, so that was all that I heard... I was close to being late for work. And after I got there, I was way too busy to worry about the weather, which is six or eight walls away from where I spend my days. Our "window" to the great outdoors is a computer screen with the weather channel radar on it. And occasionally, a trip out to the ambulance bay, to see what's *really* happening. Anyway, it was a gloomy morning when I was driving in, and it got worse, with first a heavy mist, then the wind turned from the north and the temp started dropping... it was 40°F at 07:00, and it was 20 when I left at 15:30... and the wind was blowing, the wind chill was probably around -10 when I was chipping the 1/4 inch of ice off of my windshield. Fortunately, the roads hadn't frozen yet when I finally got the windshield cleared... just in places, and those places were obvious. I made it home safely, no problem, other than being hoarse from cussing out the fools that decided to venture out who acted like they'd never seen snow or ice before. Right now, it's 14°F and blowing and snowing. And past my bedtime, too, but that's OK, I guess. Tomorrow is my last day for five whole days, and I'm looking forward to seeing Mom in Oklahoma and my boys in Texas. I've got to remember to get testing supplies tomorrow on the way out of town... I keep forgetting to call and get a prescription for them. I will probably not update from Oklahoma or Texas, I'll just save the entries up and post them when we get back to Topeka on Monday... or maybe Tuesday, that's a long drive on Monday. So, it might be a good time for you to join the reminder list so that you don't forget about me completely. Yeah, I *know* how short your attention span is! O'yeah, birthday wishes are appropriate, it's on Thursday, so I'll be travelling, but I will feel good vibes from you all, I just *know* that I will! Yeha, Karen and I watched another movie tonight, see below... An excellent shoot-em-up, Hackman is not at his best, but he's still better'n most other actors. No surprises here, except that the guy that I was sure that was gonna get killed didn't. In the Mail: On the shelf:
