Long day at work. One of the techs had a half-day off, and then the afternoon/evening guy called in, so there were just two of us there from 13:00 on. And at 15:00, we had a patient come in from out of town for a drainage procedure... unscheduled, of course. And we kinda knew that she was coming, heard about the possibility about 13:30, but it was not for sure that we'd do it, it might've been done in ultrasound... but no, I wound up doing it. And, for a change, everything went perfectly. The patient had eaten on the way, 'cause nobody thought to tell her not to, so we couldn't use conscious sedation, which made things go a lot faster, although it's more painful for the patient, of course. There is only really one painful part of the procedure, and it only lasts about five seconds, and if it was being done on me, I would just opt for the local and grit my teeth when it was necessary. This patient today did really well. I told her that I didn't have a bullet for her to bite on, but that we could use the nurses' finger, and she laughed through the bad part. So I got outta there at 16:40, and made it to see the chiropractor at 17:00. I am doing so much better with my back, and very little of it has to do with the treatment and most of it has to do with the teaching... the postural consciousness and exercises that can be done almost constantly throughout the day. When I got home, I offered to take Karen out to eat, since we'd not been out in a while. We decided to go to Furr's cafeteria, where it would be easy to count carbohydrates. So we drove out here, and the damned place was closed! I did a search online, but I found nothing, so I'm wondering what's going on, or if they've gone to a lunch-only place maybe. Well, we were pretty close to the New China Inn, so that's where we went, and it was pretty easy to count the carbs there, too, and I did stay within my allotted 75 grams. And we came home and watched Sudden Impact, a dirty harry film. Karen said that she'd seen it quite a while ago, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't, but some of the scenes seemed familiar, so possibly I'd seen parts of it on TV. And Karen's already in bed, and I'm gonna be there shortly. Clint Eastwood. You know how it starts, you know how it ends, but you love it anyway. Blood 'n' guts 'n' sweet revenge.
