From Aiken's One-liners today: Life is like wrestling a gorilla, you don't stop when you get tired, you stop when the gorilla gets tired. And the gorilla was full of piss and vinegar today, he was. But that's all over now, and I'm happy about that. I'm talking about work, and not life in general... I'm glad that's not over! We just had *way* too much work today, and I was driving the console. That seems like a pud job, comparatively, but it really isn't. I get much more stressed out doing that than I ever do running the room and taking care of patients. It's like, every little thing has to be just right to get the images that we need to get, and your full concentration has to be on getting that job done right. "Just about right" doesn't get it. The phrase, "Close enough for government work" has no place in our lexicon. And you can't joke with the computer or the images... nuttin' but facts. One of the things that I did today to relieve the tension is move the table for the tech in the room. Normally, the tech in the room does that, and someone doing it from the console is disconcerting in a fun way. There is no way that the patient will be harmed, it's not like you're pulling a chair out from behind someone who's sitting down. One of the other techs turns on the intercom and scratches it with his fingernail in weird rhythms. At first, it's really hard to tell where the noise is coming from.... Anyway. Out of there at 15:40, feeling only slightly guilty... went to the chiropractor and that helped some. Got a big rubber ball to do exercises on. Big, like 36 inches in diameter. I didn't even ask what they were charging for that. When I got home, Lacee was here, and she was bound and determined to go to Olive Garden tonight, so we did. Again, I dropped them off at the door and then I parked in the mall lot... the wait was "only" 30 minutes tonight. I decided to do something different and got the seafood alfredo, and it was really, really good. I tried to avoid eating much of the pasta, but I gobbled up all of the seafood goodies, you bet! And I'm on call now, I don't know if there is CT coverage tonight or not, but I'm gonna take a shower and go to bed, just like there is. We had a Topeka institution burned down a coupla nights ago... Bobo's Drive-in, the last of the hangouts that I frequented when I was in high school. Sad... someone left the grill on when they closed up.... A month from today is SPRING! In the Mail: On the shelf:
