Kind of a nice day, work-wise and otherwise. We had a send-off party for the former boss today... our schedule was blocked out for an hour so everyone could go, but the schedulers overrode the block, pissing us all off. We went two at a time, but we had to grab some food and come right back. To get back at the institution, we all took legitimate "no lunches". Heh, that'll teach 'em! It does seem like every time we are scheduled down for any reason, like mandatory meetings, someone overrides the system... very suspicious, that. Anyways, it was a day at work, but it really had few Friday characteristics... Friday afternoons are usually pretty hellacious, what with docs wanting stuff done before the weekend. Of course, I left at 15:30, so maybe it all happened after I left. Karen was feeling better today, but her ear is still hurting her, but not really bad... the doc gave her amoxycillin, which is good but not really fast-acting stuff. Karen bought us some small, thick steaks yesterday, and we grilled them on the Jenn-aire tonight, and they were perfect. You know why? I read the damned book finally, and timed them, and they were perfect. Small steaks, they were, and a big baked potato and green beans. Every other time we've tried to use the grill I've overdone stuff... having someone tell me how much time to do each side was a stroke of genius, and I can't take any credit, it was Karen that found the book and made me read it. And we watched Bull Durham together, I knew that she'd like it, but I didn't remember it being so romantic. Yes, it is, it is. And baseball. I really like baseball, though I never really played. Everyone in Enid played baseball but me. I tried out for a team one time when I was about 10 or 12, and a hard grounder bounced up and hit me in the nose and I put down my glove and walked away. But I love it anyway. And now yet another of my favorite movies is about baseball. I got Karen a C-PAP today, borrowed it from a friend. She's been snoring more lately and definitely has sleep apnea... we'll see how it works for her. If it does, we'll have her go through the tests and get a more modern one. And no, she can't use mine, I need it! Yep, again! I wanted to watch it with Karen, and she loved it too, just as I suspected she would. In the Mail: On the shelf:
