Natterings, Notions

Notes

I think that maybe my problem is... I'm getting too much sleep.

Well, no, my actual problem is I'm a whiney bastard. Getting too much sleep is how the world is able to bear me. Elsewise, the world would kill me, just to enjoy the silence.

Today was busy, and I was running the room, my favorite thing. And the guy who was the runner was way too busy to start the IVs, so I got to start most of the IVs on my patients, which gives me a lot of satisfaction, usually.

Starting IVs on people is cool... there is no real way that you can lose. If you miss once, or twice, or three times, you just join the list of times that their veins have been missed... and it's usually a long list, and you're faceless. If you hit 'em the first time, and they're an average patient, it's no big deal. But... if they're a hard stick, and you hit them the first time, you're a hero, and they'll recognize you in the grocery store. Of course, you won't know them from Adam, but that doesn't matter.

And the next time that they're in the hospital, they'll ask for you, and they won't let anyone else stick them but you... so you're on the spot. I guess that is the downside to this scenario, heh.

Dietarily, I've not done so well today. They had Tuna Melts for lunch, and I just had to have two of them, dammit. So I just won't eat supper, but just sunflower seeds. And diet caffeine-free Coke.

I love Tuna Melts. And most other fishy stuff, come to think of it.

Fish is brain food, right? I needs fish.

TV news is pissing me off. The common video shots of Bush and Saddam... Saddam shooting a rifle into the air, BabyBush speaking reasonably (a rare shot, indeed!). The actuality is quite the opposite, of course. At least on the Bush side....

Sometimes I make assumptions of my audience that I probably shouldn't make. I'm assuming that most of my voluntary readers (that is, non-family) are either left-leaning or extremely reasonable and tolerant people. I don't often say this, but I appreciate you folks.

Sometimes, I feel like I define myself more as what I'm against rather than what I'm for, and I think that other people do this too.

Someday, I'll write down what I'm *for*, and not even mention what I'm against. I'm rather curious about what that list might contain myself.

It's been 12 days since I could sleep in, and I'm gonna make the most of it tomorrow!
