Karen woke me up at 08:15 this morning, I probably would have slept until noon. We had to be at BC/BS at 09:00, so I hustled to get ready, and Karen, Debbie and I walked in the door right at 09:00. People were waiting for Karen, I guess that they expected her to be early... and she fooled them! Karen? Early? Hah! There were an awful lot of people there, some of the retired folks that she knew had come back too, one of them that had retired ten years or so ago. They came and went up until about 11:00 when we packed up and left. Kim and Patrick and Lacee were there, of course, and Andy brought Drew, we met them as we were coming in. Matt didn't make it, and Karen was disappointed, but I think that was the only cloud in her day. Karen's director gave a nice little speech for her, and the company president came too, he's retiring in June. Despite all of the people, there was an awful lot of cake left over. We brought Lacee home, and she was being a pill, but she straightened out and we went out to eat at Casa and she behaved OK there... She asked Debbie how she had money when she didn't work. I thought that she was joking at first, but she wasn't. Debbie told her that her and Ric both worked for a long time after they were married and put the money in a pot, and that when Jeff was born it was her job to raise him while Ric worked. And then, of course, Lacee wanted to know where the money pot was! Debbie left about 15:00, heading back to Wichita. It was really nice having her come up for Karen's party and Karen really enjoyed her visit, I know. Lacee was going 90MPH all day, and about 16:00 she fell asleep... which is when I got to watch the rest of The Hustler. Kim came to pick her up and I carried her out to the car (it's been *years* since I did that!) and finally Karen and I were alone.... So, we finished watching the movie, and then she had two days of her But now that Karen is retired, she's gonna be fixing small, nutritious meals for us every day, and etc and etc and etc... and doing landscaping, and... and.... And I'll believe it when I see it. Yeah, I'm just jealous. Well, not really, She certainly deserves everything that she gets... have I mentioned lately what a wonderful woman she is? No, I haven't, I've been neglectful. Shame on me, shame, shame. Actually, I don't let a day go by that I don't tell her that she's a wonderful woman, she has no doubt where I stand on the matter..... I think that we'll watch The Sum of all Fears tonight.... OK, I finished watching it today... excellent, excellent. I wisht I would have seen it 35 years ago. O'well. On the shelf:
soap to watch. And then we decided to look through the refrigerator to see what looked good... and then we called Pizza Hut. We're so damned lazy... fat and lazy.
