Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

I went out today and bought a belated xmas present for Karen and I... a DVD player. Yeah, I know, we're the last on the block to get one.

Karen and I were going out together, but as we were leaving, Andy and Karen's ex-husband pulled up, they were going to go to an AA meeting (her ex is greatly involved in AA) and they'd got the time wrong, so I went ahead without Karen and her ex took all of their kids out to eat.

I got a coupla movies, Shipping News and The Natural, and Karen rented Unfaithful, which we watched tonight.

We enjoy watching movies together, but I hate watching commercial TV, just hate it. Yeah, I endure it for football games (Yeah, the Chiefs suck, and no, I don't know why I care, and I'm not even sure if I *do* care, see Yesterday's entry.)

Also, Karen's idea of what makes a good movie and my ideas vary considerable. She rates hers on the percentage of time spent bawling, and I rate mine of the percentage of time spent laughing.

I also joined up with Netflix, having read about it in Michael's journal. He seems to be happy with the service, and I think that I will be too.

On the other hand, I'm worried that I might actually get to know the names of all of these movie stars, these pop culture people. I guess that's my intellectual side coming out, heh.

Anyway, my movie watching has been limited, mostly because I didn't really ever care to watch movies... but watching them with Karen is gonna be fun. She wants to educate me, and I'm willing, I guess. I have never seen any of the classics, and I'm kinda looking forward to that...

On an entirely different note, Karen keeps saying that it doesn't matter what day it is... she doesn't have to go to work any more! I think that it'll sink in after a few months.

Thanx for being here!
