Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Interestingly, the Topeka Capitol-Journal had the stories on Trent Lott and Cardinal Law on the back pages today. Stories slamming the upcoming Democraptic inaugural activities were the front page news.

I don't really know why I continue living in Kansas. Inertia, I guess. Maybe soon....

Karen has made up her mind that we will have an xmas tree this year, so I'm just kinda staying out of the way. Her and Kim are doing their baking today, and Kim brought her yappy little dog over, and then they left for a coupla hours to do their food shopping.

Well, the dog (snuggles? No, babycakes...) isn't really all that yappy, but it's hyperactive as hell, and it needs stepping on... but it moves too fast for me.

And it likes cat turds. Need I say any more?

I stayed up pretty late last night, but I got up relatively early, like 08:30 or so. I have no enthusiasm for the day, though. And I really need to study for my test next week.

19:11...
Well, I wound up closing the door to the computer room and studying pretty effectively for most of the afternoon, and I'm planning on doing some more of that for the rest of the evening. Now that I'm getting into it, I'm gaining confidence. Most of the actual CT stuff I've picked up pretty well on, and the other stuff, well, I learned that 35 years ago and I haven't forgotten it, and the medical care stuff I've kept up with pretty well. Except for questions like, "How high should an IV bottle be hung above the patient?" I never did know that stuff, so I pick the middlist answer and by golly it was right...18 to 20 inches! So, what is that in metric? 45 to 48 cm? Who cares? We have pumps now, we don't free-drip IVs!

Usta be every nurse would know how many drops per minute translated to ccs per hour and various other arcane things... now they set the computers on the pumps and things are right.

Well, except on tests. And it certainly doesn't hurt me to know that stuff, I still have a lotta room in my brain, and if I don't, I'll just get the old manure shovel out and get rid of some of the unnecessary stuff. Yep, there is *lots* of unnecessary stuff in there.

My brain is pretty well fried, so I'm gonna give it up for now, and start over again in the morning.

*really* ugly picture today...

Thanx for being here!
