Once again, call started early... I was awakened at 04:30, and yes, it was cold out! I just did one patient, then I came home and went back to bed. And slept, and slept, and slept. Unfortunately, the hospital had been trying to call me starting at about 08:00... but the answering machine was turned on, and the beeper, which was hanging by my head, was turned to vibrate only.... So, at about 09:15, I got up and put my pants on, and I noticed that the beeper was vibrating. I called the hospital and went in, and I was there until 15:30 doing patients. When they couldn't get ahold of me, they called another tech who graciously came in and did some of my work They called about a half-hour ago, but I reminded them that there was another tech working that could do that particular exam, and he must've been available, 'cause they didn't call me back. When I got home, the house was full of grandkids... well, the boys were out front filling up plastic sacks with leaves, a practice which I abhor, but Karen seems to think that it's proper, since so many people do it. This is a long-standing argument, one which will never be settled, but Karen does not have the opportunity to present her side here, and I do... so here goes: putting biodegradable material in non-biodegradable plastic sacks and carting it off to a landfill is stupid, and yes, there are many people who do that. There are also a lot of people who believe in sky fairies. The number of people who are wrong is pretty meaningless to those of us who are right, unless they are armed and know where we live. Insert a smiley-face in the above paragraph someplace if you want to. 23:47...
for me.
Just got back, I've been too much at the hospital today, I kinda lost track of the patients that I've done and the times that I've been called in. I did notice that I'd done 22 patients, though... I don't believe that I'll get called any more tonight, the night tech is coming on at midnight and she generally handles everything pretty well.
