I was not sleeping very well when the phone rang this morning at 04:45... my nose had become stopped up around 02:30, and I had taken the C-PAP unit off. Karen reported that I had been snoring terribly. Anyway, there had been a trauma patient come in and lotsa other stuff happening and the night tech was overwhelmed. It took me until 07:30 to get that patient taken care of and to get the room cleaned up. I would have normally been there about 06:45 to get ready for the day, so I started off 45 minutes in the hole. Ah, the day, the Day! This is the day that the sun shined in Topeka! Well, this morning, anyway, the sun shined. It was cloudy by the time I left, about 14:00, but it was a *bright* cloudiness. Seriously, folks, it has been cloudy for ten straight days here. Anyway, my idea was to come home and go straight to bed, but I didn't do that... no, I read my email and read my mail and most importantly, I took a shower. And I broke my back-scrubbing brush, dammit. Mom got me a back-scrubbing brush about fifteen years ago, and that one lasted about ten years. This one only lasted about five, and the brush part is still good, of course, it was the handle that broke. Well, I guess getting five years of service out of a five-dollar back scrubber isn't a bad deal, really. It seems that I had a really shoddy one in between that only lasted something like six months or so, so five years is OK. Tomorrow is voting day, and I'm sure that all of my readers are going to vote in this election, which is the most important election since.... since... since the last one, of course! Remember my motto: When in doubt, throw the rascals out! Of course, that's easy for me to say, I'm a liberal in Kansas. Which reminds me... I got a call from Laura Bush last night. I hung up on her, of course. Karen got a call from BabyBush hisself tonight, she didn't hang up, but she hung onto every word he said, I'm sure. That was the call that woke me up from a sound sleep. Just one more reason to hate that smirking SOB. Yes, I did go to sleep, about 15:30 it was. One nice thing about sleeping with a C-PAP is that you can bury your head under the covers and breathe OK... it's awfully bright in the bedroom, now that it's not equipped with black plastic over the windows. I had called Karen at work and told her to waken me at 17:00, and she did, and then I told her to go away and so I slept until 19:00. I just thought of something... that call from Georgie-boy was illegal! We're on a no-call list, and even the Repiglican National Committee can't ignore that! I need to report them. Actually, I think that I will. Well, Karen told me that they have to be selling something to be illegal. Well, the RNC *is* trying to sell something, their BS. Which is different from the DNC BS in what way? Dammit, I hate it when I have to be all reasonable and fair when I don't want to be. Which reminds me of something that I used to believe... for some reason or another, I usta think that more intelligent people were, well, "better" in some ways than less intelligent people... "better" being defined as more humane and caring. Surprisingly, I held this illusion far longer than reasonable, and I'm still not over the shock of the reality of the subject. I do believe that here and now, we're trying to breed philanthropy for philanthropy's' sake out of the population, and the world is poorer because of it. The "ME ME ME" generation has encompassed the whole of the population, with few pockets of resistance anywhere. Yes, and I am equally guilty, I know. Most of my volunteer efforts have gone to felinity, which most folks would consider a waste of time. Remember... vote early, vote often. Throw the rascals out, we need new rascals.
