Tard again, or is it still. Interesting day, though. I was running the machine, and my legs are about to drop off... hmmm, that's a funny visual....
Anyhoo, normally we get a coupla people a week who have trouble with claustrophobia, but we can usually talk them into having the scans done. However, today I had four, and I couldn't get one to go... he went back to his doctor unscanned. He told me if he had to die, that was OK, he wasn't going to go through that machine alive. And he was dead serious. Keeping people talking is usually the secret to getting the scans done, and I'm usually pretty good at it. Additionally, the scanner is pretty open, more like a donut than a tunnel, and if we walk people around it, they're usually OK. We had walked So we talked quite a bit, and I found out that the root of his claustrophobia was that when he was in grade school, he had a neighbor that would lock him up in the trunk of his model A after beating him up. The patient was an elderly black guy, and he told me that he grew up in extreme poverty, and this neighbor was the terror of the territory. He finally got into a fight with a highway patrolman and the cops wound up shooting him dead. The other patients weren't quite as interesting, and I did manage to talk them through it OK... sometimes it takes a lot of hand holding... occasionally I'm good at that. Only three more days to go 'til the weekend.... I'm gonna have to start reading and responding to my e-mail a little more deliberately... twice lately I've written in response to "prayer" mail (sent accidentally) and to "hoax" mail... the one about Bill Gates sending you money for every email address that you forward the email to. Besides being personally offensive to me, these emails are often perpetrated by spammers who harvest addresses from them. Spammers are disgusting people in general, and the less chance that I give them to get me the better off I am. But they thrive on stupidity. So anyway, the point was that I immediately typed something nasty and sent it back to "ALL" without looking to see who had done this to me. Well, the first one was a very sweet girl who made a simple mistake, and I hope that she accepts my apology. And the second one was too... Kim, who is relatively new to the cyberworld. The lesson here is quite simple... for everyone else, think before you hit the forward button... is this person *really* interested, enough to get spammed forever? My lesson is the same, plus I need to think twice, and then think again, before I hit the send button with my insults.
this fellow around it and he thought that he could do it, but when push came to shove, he couldn't.
