Yet another bad night! I seem to be having cycles of three... bad, bad, bed, good, good, good... Man, I had trouble getting out of bed again! But I did, and got to the dentist's office early again, waited until 07:00 to go in, then they hustled me right back to the chair and started cleaning away. Pretty good job, didn't make me cry or anything. And the dentist said that I had obviously been taking great care of my new bridge. I couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or not. The girls at the office made fun of my sandals, and so did my co-workers at the hospital. See, for some stupid reason or another, I decided that I was going to wear sandals until it snowed this year. Yeah, I really like sandals. So, this morning it's 32F and I'm wearing sandals. It doesn't seem to bother me any, really, and I had a pair of socks in my pocket in case my toes got cold, but the didn't. Of course, once I get to work I change and wear regular dress shoes... but I just love putting on my sandals to go home. It's kinda like my feet are sending a message to my brain: "Work is over! Enjoy!" when I sit down and put them on. When I went from the dentist's office to work, the clouds were piling up in the west, but the sun was shining in my eyes. The clouds looked like rain but not thunderstorms... and that's what they were. Well, except for that part that were snow clouds... yep, it snowed here in Topeka this morning, reportedly. I was not an eye-witness, so I will continue wearing my sandals. Anyway, the snow was only a few flakes, not enough to count as the first snow of the season. Work was not bad at all today... except for the last patient. We put her on the table at 16:30, and the other tech did the venipuncture while I did the BP on the other arm. Well, he missed, and I saw some pretty good veins on my side, so I tried. Yep, excellent-looking veins. I missed. The other guy tried again, he missed. I tried again, I hit the vein but it immediately collapsed. The lady was getting kinda frustrated, and so were we. Especially since she had such nice-looking veins. So, we called an expert from the ER. She missed... the first time, then finally got in. Made the injection... and the machine failed. Did get an adequate exam, but it took an hour for a ten-minute exam. The other tech and I were glad to leave after that... and so was the patient. She said that everyone has the same experience that we had... can't hit her veins, even though they look easy. I don't go in until 08:00 tomorrow and Friday, the other tech that I switch early shifts with is going to be off next week, so I have to come in early then, so I let him have most of this week. Like I've said before, I like getting off early, but I would rather come in about 09:00 or 10:00 *and* get off early. In a perfect world, heh.. I just talked to JD, he got his job at MD Anderson, but he's not gonna get a chance to come up here for a visit before he starts it, darn it. Guess I'm gonna have to go down there, then. I haven't been down there for a while anyway, it's time. And Tomorrow is my 19th anniversary of being sober. And Saturday is Tyler's birthday! Send him greetings at tyler@nilknarf.net. Tomorrow is a momentous day for Mom, she's having cataract surgery... you can send her condolences at wilma@enid.com. And it's already past my bedtime.
