America... such a wonderful place. No, I really mean that. Yeah, it has it's faults, doesn't it? Like the current presidential-poser and his crew... but I don't want to get into that. I want to get into what it *really* means to be an American. Yes, I do. One of the most interesting things about Americans is that they are very discriminatory. Until the law forces them to not be, and then they still are. Discrimination is even more American than apple pie, and that's pretty damned American, doncha know? The BSA is a great American Institution, right? They've held onto their discriminatory practices into the new century, with no apparent end in sight. Of course, they don't discriminate against black or Jews any more, they've seen the error of there ways in that respect. However, they still discriminate against gays and atheists... but that's OK, everybody does, so it's an American thing to do, right? I mean, like, the *BOY SCOUTS*! The *BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA*! Nobody, but NOBODY, can criticize the Boy Scouts and get away with it. It's, it's it's... UNAMERICAN, that's what it is! What beings this up is once again, the United Way. In Topeka, the Boy Scouts is a participating institution, and, as usual, I'm refusing to participate. And I'm letting everybody know why, too. Sadly, nobody really gives a shit about why I won't give the Boy Scouts any of my hard-earned money.... Yeah, the consensus is that I'm a nut, and a tightwad to boot. Like, I'm trying to reason my way out of being generous to my community. It's not unconstitutional for the BSA to discriminate, but it is for them to get public money to do so. Public money is tax money, of course, and the United Way is not supported by taxes, but by voluntary contributions. So the only way to end discrimination in the BSA is to not give them any money... pretty simple, heh? OK, enough of that. I had a damned hard time getting up this morning. It was cold outside of my bed, and O so warm and cozy inside of those covers... yeah, I guess that I need to turn the furnace on, heh? And we pretty much ran all day, and then the evening tech, who comes in at 12:30, was off today, so we had to run harder and faster this afternoon. I left at 15:30, though, but then I got called about 17:15 and I was in for a coupla hours. Nothing really exciting, and now there's an evening tech in radiology that can do most CT stuff, so I'm probably home for the night. And I don't think that I'll stay up and watch any of the ball games tonight, I think that I'll just go to bed early. Which is what I did last night, but I didn't get to sleep until after midnight, come to think of it. That was probably why it was so hard getting up this morning.... Karen had fried up some hamburgers while I was gone, so I had one cheeseburger and one jelly-burger, with apricot jam. MMMMMMmmmmm Good!
