Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Forgive me, for it has been TEN (10) days since I updated my "Yesterday" button at the end of each entry. The really sad thing? I discovered it myself, by accident. Nobody ever clicks it, I guess.

Not making mucho dinero today-o. Got called in at 10:30 for a coupla hours, and from about 13:30 until 15:00, and that's been all so far. Got a whole night to go, of course.

O'yeah, the "today-o" in the preceding paragraph was in reference to Belafonte's remarks about Powell. I don't particularly agree with him but I admire him for taking a stance. The thing is... he's an entertainer. Who the hell in this country, in this day and age, will listen to anything an entertainer says that's not about entertainment? Well, OK, there was that Reagan guy. Say, he really *was* telling the truth about not remembering, wasn't he? Daddy bush was right there with him, though, taking notes....

I've been having troubles with my W2K machine, so I started de-fraging the C drive. That was Friday night, and I've de-fragged it three times already, doing a fourth right now... it was a mess. The first time that I did it, it wound up with more red than I started with, but it's probably gonna wind up all blue this time. Not that anyone really cares.

I usta write a lot more about computers, if I remember rightly. I think that I usta be much more enamoured with them than I am now. Now I approach them as tools to get various jobs done and not as an end in and of themselves. I think.

Well, I guess that that depends on the day.

Today was another beautiful fall Kansas day, pretty chilly, though. I had to leave my window rolled up coming from the hospital.

And the KC Chiefs lost, just barely. They got five turnovers, which means that they should'a lost by a zillion points instead of just one measly little point.

I had turned on the Green Bay game earlier, and I really impressed Karen... the QB of the opposing team had poorly thrown a pass and the receiver didn't catch it... but it was a backward pass, or a lateral, and I think that I was the first one to realize it, so I was yelling at the GB guys to cover it and they were all standing around waiting for the whistle. The whistle... duh. They finally got the idea, and got the turnover. Don't know how that game came out, but Farve had his 300th TD pass. GB is probably my all-time favorite team, they have been since, what, 1962? Something like that. I remember getting in a bar fight over who was better, them or KC... that was probably '69 or '70. I think that I got my ass kicked.

Another week of going in at 07:00, getting off at 15:30. I do kinda like that, but most of the time there's too much work to do between 07:00 and 08:00, when the other techs start getting there. And most of that work is organizational, not my strong suit.

Today's photo is JD and Patrick and Tyler, about 12 years ago, that would be in '89 or '90. Cute bunch of kids, heh. Click on the photo to get a big-ass one.

Man, I hate it when I do that. I had to go look up how to do that "click the little photo to get the big photo" deal. I think that I'm losing it.

Thanx for being here!
