Natterings, Notions

Notes

Karen had the TV on this morning when I got up, and I sat down with my first cuppa coffee to watch CNN or MSNBC or something, and I saw a fellow stating that he was not nearly as afraid of Saddam Hassin as he was of the knucklehead driving around Washington, DC.

"Aha!" I thought, "A kindred soul, and a brave one, too!" However, it seems that he was talking not about BabyBush, but about the elusive sniper.

You know, the 'mericun public is starting to get fed up with the feds, and law enforcement in general, if they continue not catching the bad guys... Chandra Levy's murderer, the anthrax mailer, Osama... especially when they are continuing busting relatively harmless druggies and speeders.

On the other hand, who can blame the cops if they don't want to put themselves in harms way? Some of the bad guys can think, and they can even shoot back.

OK, enough of this early ranting... I went to bed about 21:30 last night, and I got up at 10:30, that's a pretty good sleep. I feel good, like I should be working or something, but I only have one day to rest this week, so I'm gonna do that today. Especially since it's rainy and chilly... well, I really should do some work in the basement, I guess.

22:00...
Well, I actually got some work done today! Let's see... I changed the furnace filter. I fixed the basement door, the hinge screws had worked out of the wood so I hammered in some toothpicks laced with Elmer's glue and re-screwed them, so that works fine now.

I also hauled some computer parts downstairs, where I'm going to be setting up a cluster of Linux machines. I've got 8.0 burned to disk now....

And then I... um... then I sat down for a while. No, I didn't, I helped Karen make some of her famous soup. She baked a cake, too, she did. The soup was excellent, as usual, and so was the cake.

Speaking of food, Taco Tico is back in business! They had a fire back in July, and they've finally got the place fixed up, I'll have to go eat there tomorrow. Taco Tico, for the uneducated, is a fast food tex-mex place that I love.

O'yeah, that reminds me of some more work that I did! How could I have forgotten? I went out to Wal-mart and bought some mini-blinds for the bedroom... for $3.47 each! I hung them up, the ones that they replaced were about fifteen years old and falling apart, literally. I also got some cheap shoes and some wiper blades for the truck, the old ones have fallen apart.

Later, I sat down and watched Brubacker on AMC. It was a pretty good flick, but man, I hate having to watch all of the commercials. I'm too cheap to get HBO or Starz or any of those other movie channels, and I've never done the pay-per-view either.

I just talked to JD and Annette a few minutes ago, JD got a FT job at the same medical center (MD Anderson?) that Annette works at, doing similar things... JD will be doing interviews for a lung cancer research program. I'm sure that you will be able to read all about it here eventually....

I did sleep rather late this morning, but I've got to go to bed early tonight, so that I can get up at 07:00 when they call me from the hospital. Hopefully, I can make some OT tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
