The thing that I hate about being on call on Saturday is that it takes sooooo damned long to get anything done! I woke up at 08:30, thinking that they should have called me, but no... in fact, I still hadn't got called at 13:00, so I called in to find out what the deal was. Well, one of the night techs was working a morning shift, so she was doing my work for me... but there wasn't much, only one inpatient. However, there was another inpatient, and it was time for her (the other tech) to leave, so I went on in. And it took my three hours to do two patients. Part of the problem is getting the radiologist there so I could inject the patient, and the other problem is getting the patient down from the floor. I was there until 19:00, so I did get some OT in. After I got home I got called three times, there's a new tech on working evenings who we're kinda training to do some of the simpler exams. I really don't mind getting called for questions in cases like that... but I do hate questions in the middle of the night. I never feel that I'm awake enough to give good answers. Today was Lacee's school carnival, and I missed it... I went last year and enjoyed myself. Karen came home with a coupla pies, one that she'd won at the cake-walk and one that she bought. One cherry, one strawberry-rhubarb. We had a piece of the cherry, and I think that the cook left out the sugar altogether! It was right tart, but pouring equal on it made it palatable, just barely. One of the patients that I did had something going on with his clotting mechanism, that kind of stuff is really scary, it develops so rapidly. I fear the outcome. I do need to get up and go do an inpatient in the morning, so I'm gonna set my alarm and get in there about 08:00 or so... so I better get to sleep now. O'wait! I missed the 1000-day anniversary of The Wondering Jew, Denver Doug! I don't know how I missed that entry, but I did. He's in it for the long term, too. Actually, there are quite a few of us over 1000... somebody should start a 'burb, or maybe they have and I've just forgotten about it?
