I didn't mention in yesterday's entry that I was on call, did I? Well, I was. My first call came at about 11:30, just after I'd dropped off to sleep. I had to talk a tech through a pretty simple procedure, but one that she'd never done before, or even heard of. So, I was awake until about 01:30. At 03:00, a big thunderstorm came through, lightening, thunder, some hail... woke me up for another half-hour. At 04:30, another call, another talk-through situation. Did I mention that we don't get paid for phone calls? Of course, I didn't have to get out of bed, either. And I'm really surprised that the tech could understand me well enough to get the job done, especially since I really don't remember what the problem was... I think that I remembered when I woke up, but not now. Anyway, as a result of the first call, I needed to get to work early, and I got up just barely on time. And then... today was another hellacious day. Nothing really fun happened at all, in spite of my best efforts. Well, let's face it, my best efforts weren't available today, I was draggin' from the word go. And just think, yesterday I was ruminating about how maybe I was getting too much sleep... jinx city! After I got home, I opened up the saw that I bought last night. It was nice, nice heft to it, just what I wanted. So I decided to put the blade in it, but I was interrupted by several things. When I got back to it, I noticed a defect on the blade guard... it looked like somebody had sawed partially through it. This was quite obviously *not* a new saw! So Karen and I went out to Sears, and the manager was very apologetic. I was hoping that he would replace it with an even better model, but no such luck. Besides, I'm quite happy with what I've got. Karen and I stopped at IHOP on the way home, and we both got coffee. Decaff, of course, not that that matters. My cup had lipstick on it, and I didn't notice it until I tasted the lipstick. I should've been grossed out, but with my lack of sleep I was kinda resigned to things like that happening to me today.... Got home and I opened the saw case... it was sealed properly. And I discovered that the hex wrench, used to fasten the blade in, was missing. There was a place in the case for it, and it was gone! Well, damndamndamn! Just my damned luck! I prepared to make another trip to Sears... When I noticed that in the illustration on the box, there was a holder for the hex wrench on the cord. I looked on the cord... and there it was! The other saw, the damaged one, didn't have this nifty feature. So, I'm happy as a clam right now, and I'm going to bed to catch up on some sleep.
