Friday the thirteenth. I'm not afraid of Friday the Thirteenth, not me... said the slithery bee. O'wait, it's, "I'm not afraid of the slithery bee!", ain't it? Yep, Smothers Brothers, somewhere around 1960. I did really get to sleep around 20:00 last night, and I really did sleep all night, and 45 minutes past time to get up, too. But I got to work on time, I did. And it was yet another day of running. I did leave around 15:30, but we had a patient "Hangin' Fire" that I was pretty sure that the evening tech wouldn't be able to handle by himself, a drainage procedure, so I told him to give me a call if he needed help. Well, I talked to him around 18:15, and he told me that they were going to do the drainage procedure in special procedures under fluoro, which meant that I didn't need to worry about it any more. So Karen and I went out to the New China Inn, the chinese buffet. It had started raining cats and dogs just as we were leaving... no, don't say anything about cats and dogs and chinese cooking, that is *so* racist! We had a nice meal, only I got the General Tao chicken and it was really, really spicy, it isn't usually. Of course, I had enough to eat anyway. It was still raining some when we came home, but not quita as hard, and we were able to glimpse the setting sun through the clouds, it was a huge ball on the horizon refracting through the rain... pretty impressive, but only for a coupla seconds, then the rain closed in again. So, we got home and I noticed that there were lots of calls on the caller ID from the hospital, starting at 18:28... about five minutes after we'd left. So I called, and yes, could I please come in? The procedure wasn't being done in Specials anyway, but in the main CT room.... So I get there in about fifteen minutes, but it's all over but the shouting. No, that's just an expression, there was no shouting. All that I really did was lend moral support... and I got paid well for that. Plus I got brownie points, 'cause the boss was there too... like I need or care about brownie points at this particular time, heh. Well, I guess that I always care, being appreciated is nice. Especially since I wasn't on call. But the money is the main thing, of course. Money money money! Karen, Kim, Andy and Drew are going to Wichita tomorrow to get some furniture from Debbie for Kim. I elected to stay home and maybe take care of Lacee while Steve works. That might or might not be fun... most of the grandkids are kinda pissed at me right now, 'cause I'm going to be taking grandma away from them.... Karen is going to have to work several days in January, and she found out yesterday that she's going to get the same pension that she would get if she stayed until she was 65, which is really great. The SS is going to be less, of course, but not by a whole lot, certainly not enough to persuade her to work another three years. Yeah, I'm kinda jealous... but not really. As I have mentioned before, I really love my work, and if I stay healthy I would like to be doing it until I die... or reach 100, whichever comes first. Geez, 44 more years! I drank several glasses of iced tea at supper tonight, so I won't be able to get to sleep for a while. Man, I love iced tea, and I love chinese food, and I love Karen, and I love my work... am I a lucky guy, or what? Yes I am, yes I am! I'm gonna get some work done around here this weekend, I am. Or maybe not. Supposed to rain until tomorrow night off and on, we've got probably two inches tonight, the cracks in the yard will no longer be a danger to the grandkids.... How embarrassing! I just googled "slithery Bee" by the Smothers Brothers and found out... that it's "Slithery *DEE*"! I have been singing and writing it all wrong, all of these years! The shame, the shame!
