Well, OK, this is just a bad week, I'll quit counting the days. This morning about 09:30, the power to the hospital went off. For about five seconds. You could hear the collective cry of "O'Shit!" from about 500 mouths, as their possessors saw their computer screens go blank and their hard drives start free-wheeling.... We crashed pretty good, but we had just got a patient off of the table, so we were OK there. The data that was in the network was lost, of course, and I spent a considerable amount of time trying to get one of the computers to come up, much of the data was corrupted and it took a while to recover it. Most of the machines came up OK, though. I was standing by the drawer where we keep the flashlight, and I had it out and on before the lights came back on. Amazingly, it worked. Everything didn't just come back on, however, it took some time, and by the time everything was back to normal, we were behind at least an hour, and we kept getting busier and busier... and one of the techs left at 11:00 to go on vacation. Luckily, our part-time tech stayed over and helped us until about 14:30, bless her little heart, or we would have been even further behind. As it was, I was there until 19:00 (supposed to get off at 16:30) and missed my lunch to boot... and I'm mightily weary. Tard, in fact. Tomorrow I need to go in at 07:00, and next Tuesday too. Then back to 08:00 for the rest of the week. I kinda like the two weeks in a row early/late schedule, I can kinda get into a rhythm. Speaking of rhythms, the more that I think about the 7-on/7-off schedule that I used to have the more I miss it.... And speaking of jobs... I need to make a decision about doing the travelling thing. I'm almost positive that the computer job just isn't going to happen, and I'm beginning to care less and less about that anyway. But the first thing that I need to do is get my CT registry done, and what I need to do there is get my ass in gear and fill out the paperwork and get it sent in. I've been doing a lot of reviewing lately, anatomy and such, and I'm pretty confident that I can pass it the first time around. Not ace it, maybe, but pass it with a wide margin. Especially the more that I talk with people who have taken it and passed. So I'm going to bed early tonight, I'm hoping that I don't get called.
