Notes

Another hard day at work, but at least we got the hardware issues resolved and the system is working as it's supposed to, which is absolutely fantastic!

Most days, I just kinda forget that I'm working with some of the most fascinating machinery and software in the history of civilization... and other times, it just blows me away. The machinery is awesome, and the things that we can do with it are mind-blowing. And fun... lots of fun!

We use intravenous radiopaque contrast material, commonly referred to as "x-ray dye" in most of our exams. It circulates through the organs that we're visualizing, then it's excreted by the kidneys. One of the common exams that we do is an abdomen and pelvis exam, and many times as we're scanning over the bladder, there is a plume of contrast shooting into the bladder from the ureter (the tube that goes from the kidney to the bladder), and it kinda looks like a plume of water from a tugboat as it's saluting a liner. Occasionally, both sides will be squirting at the same time and the plumes will cross.

Well, I wimped out on the funeral tonight, I just couldn't bring myself to go, even though he was a man whom I have admired and respected for all of my adult life. No excuse, I'm just a wimp.

We got a bunch more rain this morning after I'd gotten to work, probably a coupla inches or so. And speaking of the weather, I forgot to mention that we set a new record low last week, when it got down to 55F one night.

And I can't get the weatherbug to DL on my new computer, dammit. Weatherbug.com, it's free.

Thanx for being here!
