Finally, finally got a decent night's sleep. Well, except for the part where I had to wake up... Karen and I both have our alarms set for 05:30, and I thought that she didn't turn hers off, but it was really mine that was going off. We started getting a lot of thunder around 04:30, and it was really nice laying there in bed, with the lightning flashes and thunder, and knowing that I didn't have to get up for another hour or so. When I did get up, I checked the radar on the computer and I was amazed... no, shocked... to see that the thunderstorm had actually formed right over Topeka! Usually, they form to the east and move east, but this one didn't... and it was moving slowly enough that we did get an appreciable amount of rain. It was raining steadily by 05:45, and continued until about 11:00 or so, so I was told. However, we only "officially" got 0.03 inches today, according to the NWS, whose station is about six miles to the ENE of here... we got at least an inch, if not more. The power went out right before I left, but it came back on a minute later, but then it went out for good after I'd left, Karen had to try to remember what was on and what wasn't... 'most everything was on when I got home! This morning at work was pretty OK, and.... I had Clam Chowder for lunch! Have I ever talked about how much I love clam chowder? Probably not, although I might have mentioned it while I was working nights. Anyway, the hospital has about the best clam chowder that I've ever tasted. The only thing that's come close to it is Snow's, and I can't seem to find it in the stores around here any more. This afternoon was more hectic, we were a tech short, and I had to go do a biopsy, a pretty complicated one that took almost two hours. By the time I got that done, I only had another hour to work. Of course, there were about three hours worth of work that needed to be done. So we hustled and I got out of there only twenty minutes late. Leaving the bad parts to the last... a radiologist whom I'd always admired greatly and who was an inspiration to me in my younger days died this morning. He'd been ill (anaplastic anemia) but doing more or less OK until he had to get a tooth extracted and got infected. The other bad part... I'm once again having the bowel problems, just started today. I'm not going to let it go so long as I did last time, especially since I'm pretty sure that they made a bad diagnosis. Anal fissures are believed to be caused by hard stools and straining, neither of which are problems with me. Anyways, I'm gonna treat it like the GI guy recommended, since I really don't have any other good ideas. Karen blew $10.00 on roses after work... two dozen roses for ten bucks! Pretty, she's arranging them in different ways. Gave me a couple for the computer room, even! I have a basement that is full of junk, constantly being added to, I never throw anything away, of course... anyway, it's a joke that I can't find anything down there. Well, about six months ago I took a KVM switch down there... and now I can't find the damned thing. And I've looked and looked and looked. I even asked JD about it, since he likes to go through my junk when he visits. So anyway, now I'm wondering if I even took it downstairs, although I have the memory of doing it, even down to me remembering exactly where I put it. Things like this just drive me batty.... heh, you're wondering what did that, heh. Everyone but brother Jon knew the answer to the calendar question (I'm making a big assumption here, but he was the only one who asked for the answer!)... it was none, zero. The calendar was adjusted, and those days never existed. Y'know, kinda like, if you remember the 60's you weren't really there.
