And I got a lousy nights' sleep last night, and Karen say that she did too.... It was kinda drizzlin' when I finally got up this morning, and kept it up most of the morning, but we didn't get but maybe a half-inch total. Nice and cool, though, I think that the high was about 75F. Supposed to get up to 85 tomorrow, then back to the 90s August-type weather. Buddy Jesse called me after work, just wanted to tell me that he won $1200 within ten minutes of getting into the casino last night. Of course, I don't know whether to believe him or not. They were going on to KC to the riverboats, they stayed in Atchison last night to visit with his daughter and grandkids. Karen got home kinda late... I had told her last night that I wanted to take her out to Puffy's steak house in Maple Hill. She mentioned that Kim might want to go along, but I couldn't get ahold of her (line busy) so we went over there. Well, Lacee wanted to go, too, and that was fine with me, but Patrick didn't. So the four of us drove out there, it's about fifteen miles or so, kind of a nice drive for being on the interstate. We didn't have to wait to be seated, but that was the last good thing about the place. Their steaks have been advertised to be fantastic, but I had a different opinion, they were just fair. And the atmosphere wasn't that great, either. The service was good, though. The bread was served in small loaves, plain white bread with packaged oleo spread, not very impressive. Adding to my mood... Lacee was being a certifiable brat. I told her, quite sincerely, that I would go out with her to eat again on her sixteenth birthday, but not before. Work wasn't too bad today, I was assigned to do biopsies and aspirations and we actually had a couple to do, it seems that we never have any on my rotations any more. Anyway, we did a aspiration/abscess drainage procedure on a lady that was very successful, and she immediately felt better... I just love it when that happens. We had to cancel the next procedure, though, a biopsy, because the guy had been on Plavix and nobody had thought to stop it. Mostly because they didn't even think of doing the biopsy until last night... it seems that almost any time that someone wants to do a procedure right away, they forget some little detail that prevents it from happening... a detail that would have not been missed if everyone wasn't in such a hurry. Luckily, we're trained to look out for details that other people miss, 'cause they'll come back and bite *us* in the ass. And this afternoon I had an appointment with the financial planner guy for the company that the hospital has their retirement plan through. Man, what a rip-off. It's a 402b or something like that, and these guys charge butt-loads of money, whether they make you money or not. Every year, every quarter, they get theirs. I hate dealing with that stuff, just like I hate buying cars... I know that I'm getting screwed and there's no way to get around it. So anyway, dammit, it's already after 21:00 and I need to get to sleep. These early mornings are hard on me. Yeah, getting out of bed in general is hard on me, heh.
