Natterings, Notions

Notes

Well, it's nice to see the good guys come out ahead on one, referring to the kidnapped girls and dead kidnapper in California.

Today's picture is Karen and I in Colorado on our first ski trip. Neither one of us had gray hair then... actually, I'm the only one who does now, come to think of it. I need to ask Karen about that... or maybe not.

We went to Colorado with my old buddy Herman and Jody, his wife at the time. A fun trip, one where I learned that I love skiing, but not enough to ride ski lifts. The pleasure of skiing down the mountain was offset by the terror of going up on the lift. I skied two days, but never again. I never fell down once, I was kinda proud of that. Of course, I skied the easy ones, the blues I think they are called.

And the first two days that we were there the temps were below zero, and I thought that my feet got frozen. They didn't, of course, my ski boots were too tight though, and my feet were so cold that I didn't realize that I was wearing huge blisters on my feet.

Anyway. Not too bad a day today, all better because I got my evaluation finally. Good, of course, got the 4% standard raise as usual.

I'm still really looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday. Really really. Yeah, I will only get enough rest when I'm dead, sometimes I just can't wait.

Well, that didn't sound right at all, of course I can wait. I do reserve the right to bitch a lot about never getting enough sleep, of course. I reserve the right, indeed the duty, to bitch about everything that I find unfair and repulsive about this old world.

No, I'm not going to go into politics or religion tonight. Not nearly enough energy.

Well, maybe a little politics... next Tuesday is primary day here in Kansas, and I'm a registered repiglican, so I need to figger out which of the many repiglican candidates is least likely to win in the general election so I can vote for them. Is that dirty politics? Yep. I originally registered as a repiglican so that I could vote against BoB Dole as many times as possible, but I think that there are a lot of guys that I like to vote against in the repiglican party here in Kansas. Then I vote for the demicraps in the general election.

It's fun watching the repiglicans bloody and muddy each other, watch their alliances sway to and fro, back and forth, see who's left swinging in the wind and who rides the wagon home....

The demicraps don't do that, mostly 'cause they know that they can't win... many repiglicans run unopposed in state elective offices. But still they fight amongst themselves.

Actually, my quite specific voting rules are: Throw the bums out. All of them. Even if they're good, throw them out. Don't let them get cocky, just throw the bums out.

Taxes are too high. Throw the bums out.

The roads are crappy. Throw the bums out.

There are too many crooks running loose. Throw the bums out.

Just throw the bums out.

All of them.

Thanx for being here!
