Natterings, Notions

Notes

We just had a nice thunderstorm go through, it's been chasing us since we left Salina!

Well, not really.

When I went to sleep last night in Hutchison, it was still 91F. We had a thermometer outside of our room at the car dealership next door.

Lousy night's sleep, I love my waterbed. The fitted sheets on the bed in the motel weren't right and they didn't stay where they should have, I wound up sleeping on the bare mattress mostly.

Anyways, we got up at 08:30 and turned on the TV and discovered that the miners were all out OK. The room came with a 4-cup coffeemaker, and when that was gone I went downstairs and got us two more cups and a coupla stale donuts. We packed and left, driving around aimlessly looking for a local breakfast place. We found one finally, it was packed with smokers. It didn't really bother me but it offended Karen. Really, the smell of frying bacon pretty much erases everything else from my mind. Anyway, we had a nice meal and went to the Cosmosphere and waited for it to open. It did and we bought our tickets and we decided to do the museum downstairs, then the IMAX and then the Planetarium and then a little show called "Dr. Goddard's Laboratory". The IMAX was wonderful, it was about the space station, they had two others that they show there also. The planetarium was moderated by a college student who did a pretty good job, but the lab was put on by a woman who didn't enunciate very well, I couldn't understand half of what she said. Good show, but it could have been much better.

Anyway, we didn't get through very much of the museum before it was time for the shows, and by the time we were done with the shows it was 16:00... so, our quandary was, spend another three hours at the museum and get home really, really late or come back some other day? We decided to head on home, it's really only about a three-hour drive from home, we'll do it some other time and come on a Saturday when they open at 09:00 instead of noon.

It wasn't a bad drive back, about 2.5 hours driving at a reasonable rate. It's nice to be home, as usual.

And... tomorrow is Monday again, dammit.

Thanx for being here!
