Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Tuesday, 25 June, 2002 20:21

Yesterday wasn't over until about 02:00 this morning, unfortunately.

I guess it was about 21:00 when I got home last night from the second round, and I went to bed about 22:30. I was almost asleep when, at 23:11, the phone rang.

And I was there until 01:30 or so, and back in bed by 02:00.

And up this morning at 07:45 after many jabs at the snooze control.

Work wasn't bad, the big thing this morning was my biannual CPR re-registration. A two-hour class, it kept my attention well enough to keep me awake, but I aced neither the pre- nor the post-lesson tests. Every other time that I have taken such tests I've aced them.

To be fair about it, they have changed a lot of stuff from just two years ago. And the instructor said that everyone misses two of the questions, and she thinks that the wording is bad. I agree with that, but... I missed four. My only excuse is lack of sleep and a slow brain.

So, it was pretty slow after I got back from lunch. I stuck around until 14:30 but that was it. Not enough work for three people, so I left.

On the way home, I stopped at the auto parts store and bought stuff to tune up the truck... it's been running pretty poorly in the mornings going to work and running just fine in the afternoons coming home, which pretty much points to the plug wires finally wearing out. What happens is that when the dew forms, there is enough moisture on the wires to short them out to surrounding metal parts... the insulation is starting to break down on the wires. After a day out in the blazing sun, there is no moisture on the wires, and they *don't* short out.

I haven't tuned the truck up since I bought it from JD when he went to Texas... 7 years ago? It's probably due. Anyway, I got plugs and wires and a cap, but the rotor was out of stock, I'll pick it up in the morning.

So, my plan was to wait until the motor cooled off a bit and then replace the plugs and wires and then replace the rotor and cap tomorrow after work. So I came home and parked in the driveway and lifted the hood and came inside and sat down to check my mail.

In about five minutes I was about ready to fall out of my chair, so I thought that I'd take a little nap. Yeah, riiiiight.

I finally woke up about 19:00 with the phone ringing. Someone had called twice in a row... Lacee, as it turns out. She wanted to spend the night. Karen wasn't here, though, and I didn't actually answer the phone, that's what answering machines are for, heh. She finally called Karen's cell phone. She seems to be having a pretty good summer so far, swimming every day and going to camps of various kinds.

And I really don't feel like working on the truck tonight, it'll get me to and from work tomorrow OK, so I'll do it all tomorrow.

Tonight I'm gonna sleep some more, starting pretty quick now.

Thanx for being here!
