Wow, like, this evening really got away from me!
From earlier: On the road, headed back to Topeka. Had a pleasant morning after a pretty good night's sleep, more thunderstorms during the night again.
It was markedly cooler today, in fact it was last night after the last thunderstorm passed... the cool front finally really arrived. As I'm writing, I can see the clouds piled up in the rearview mirror, marking the northern edge. The clouds are pretty impressive, especially since I know that they're over the Red River Valley, about 150 miles away, or maybe closer to 200 miles...
The horizon here in Oklahoma is a long ways away...
We went out for lunch at Braums and then we went sightseeing in Enid, looking at some of my childhood homes... seems that there were a lot of them.
About 13:45 we were packed and ready to go; it's always hard saying goodbye to Mom, but this had been a nice visit, and she seems to be regaining her old spunkiness and feeling better. She's been taking exercise classes and it seems to be doing her a lot of good. Karen and I joined the "Y" a month or so ago, and we have appointments to get set up with a training program on Tuesday... by that time my knee should be healed and I should be ready to go! Speaking of such things, I took my belt up a notch today, and I weighed when I got home, I've lost 15 pounds lately. Primarily done that simply by not making a pig out of myself, eating the same stuff but in lesser portions... if that's gonna work, I should be down to my goal (180) within about four months. I'm really starting to feel better already... or should I say finally? I've been waiting to feel better ever since I quit smoking. I did have a psychological setback today, though. Karen wanted to go for a walk this morning, so we set off... and I could only make it a coupla blocks before my legs gave out... the arterial thing, not the joint thing. I'd kinda forgotten about that. So OK, it's too late for me to do all of the missed entries, I'll do them tomorrow, I promise, I've got them done, I just need to spell-check them and put them up. What the hell, I'll do it tonight anyhoo, it'll just take a few... starting right here...
