It's been a while since I loosened one of my tirades against religion upon the world. I haven't converted or anything like that, I'm just kinda bored with the subject and the catholics, at least, are doing a much better job of belittling religion than any of my mere words could ever do. Nor have there been any anti-Baby Bush rants, for much the same reason. I just read someone's opinion that he had used up all of the worldwide good will and sympathy generated by 9/11. I managed to get through today without doing too much thinking... I announced when I got to work that I had dibs on taking off early, but the world conspired against that idea totally. I did take off at 16:30 though, instead of staying until 17:00. First thing that I did was check the weather... it was cloudy and humid, but all of the rain was south of here. So Karen and I changed clothes and started mowing and working on the yard. We worked about 2.5 hours and gave up on it for tonight. Got the front and side yards mowed, and about half of the back. The back hasn't been fully mowed yet this year, the grass is about two feet tall. And very tough and oniony. I cleaned out the hot tub, it still had leaves in it from last fall, and it was full of larval mosquitos. Nasty stuff, nasty job. So we quit and ordered a pizza hut pizza. Thin crust supreme. We're under a tornado watch yet again tonight, but so far nothing headed this way on the radar. Beautiful bright orange sunset, though. Eye protection? I never think about it until it's too late. Usually when I'm doing yard work, I wear sunglasses, but it was cloudy, so I forgot. I got lucky, I got hit in the eyelid and didn't get a corneal scratch; those corneal scratches hurt like hell. Been there, done that, paid the hospital bill. No T-shirts for stupidity, though. It is really nice to not be on call.
