Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

A very brief sysnopsis of the day: shitty. An elucidation: *really* shitty.

It started off badly when, as on almost all days, I got out of bed.

But wait! Last night we had a nice thunderstorm anyway, even some 1/2 inch hail. And a nice rain after that. Yeah, this ties in.

So, I got outta bed, got ready for work, went out the door and got in the truck... some damned fool had left the window open, so my ass was wet.

I was also getting my fasting blood-sugar done again today. I was not in the mood to have a wet ass.

Got to work and it was raining cats and dogs, but ah-HA! I'd brought an umbrella! And it even worked!

The lab tech who took my blood missed my vein twice. Twice!

Not that I've never missed twice, mind you.

So, the glucose was still over the limit, and I've gotta face the fact that I eat way too many starches and sweets. Or I'm diabetic. O'yeah, about facing facts...

At 14:00 I went over to see the orthopod. Busy office, and the receptionist doesn't understand the principles of work injuries... the part where the employer pays the bill. I steadfastly refuse to give her my insurance cards and I get the work comp at the hospital to talk to her.

I see the doc finally, he's a really nice guy (and I've had many people tell me of his competency) and we figger out what to do about my knee. He's gonna scope it and clean it out on the 17th of May. He used the exact words that his partner told me three years ago..."It ain't gonna heal itself."

So I have that to look forward to... no, really, he thinks that my knee will be as good as new, or at least as good as the other one. I've been bothered by it since my original injury, and I'll be glad to get it healed.

I found out that I was still on call - I'd traded to get a coupla days off call during my vacation. And...(drum roll...) the evening tech who does CTs... came in at 14:30 and hurt his back moving his first patient. So he's out for the week... and there's nobody to do CTs but me.

And I was pretty much busy until 21:00, when the night tech came in. Came home, took a shower and here I sit... for about three more minutes.

Under a tornado watch again tonight, we just had a nice storm blow over, little hail, little wind, little rain... looks like it'll be calming down now. Even if it doesn't, I'm going to sleep

Thanx for being here!
