Monday, 29 April, 2002 22:36...I have become enamored with a TV show called "Savannah Code Blue" that is on TLC. It's a very realistic (maybe even real?) show about what goes on in an ER.

Anyway, one thing that really tickled me... they had a woman being evaluated after a trauma and her clothes were cut off, and they blurred out her nipples.

Her nipples!

Three minutes before, they'd shown an elderly fellow getting operated on for an AAA - abdominal aortic aneurysm. Blood and guts stuff. We're talking getting down in the guts and rooting around here.

And they can't (won't?) show a woman's nipples.

It's a sad, sad world with some really messed-up morality.

Anyway, I had to say this before I went to bed.

Back in November of '98, I twisted my knee. Gee, I didn't realize that it'd been that long. Anyways, as I have related here these last two weeks, it's hurting a lot more.

So I lasted until about 15:00 this afternoon, and I just couldn't go on any more, it was really painful to walk at all. I went over to the ED and saw the doc, who ordered an x-ray. The x-rays were interesting... chondrocalcinosis, mostly in the medial joint space, and joint space narrowing medially, and even a little vacuum phenomena there. Would have been more interesting in someone else's knee, I think.

So, I will get an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon and probably get 'scoped and get that joint cleaned out. Hopefully, that's all it will take to get it done, I would rather not have "real" surgery, I've seen people that have had that and it ain't fun.

At any rate, I can't *not* have it done, it hurts too much to let it go for very long. There is about a two-week wait, though, which will be about when Karen and I were planning on starting vacation. We might just have to scuttle those plans....

I can't believe that it's only Tuesday... I don't know why, it just seems like it's been a long time since Sunday....

Time, Time, Time... dammitall anyway.

Time to go see the dentist. I just broke off a molar, one of the few that I have without a crown, and the nerve feels like it's exposed.

Eating popcorn. Kettle Corn, specifically. Stupid.

I just went in and looked at that damned tooth with my trusty little dentist's mirror, and it looks nasty indeed. Half of the shell of the tooth is gone, and the filling is crooked. The tooth will probably have to come out, I don't think that they can put a crown on it if it's busted off that low, but maybe I'll get lucky.

So, I now have to scratch popcorn off of my list of things that I love to eat and can. That list is getting mighty short lately.

Speaking of short lists... no, I won't go into that right here or right now.

My doc's office called today, I need to get another fasting blood-sugar (glucose) done. The nurse told me that often people with "Sudden Weight Gain" are prone to get diabetic. Yet another reason to get slim, heh, like I didn't already have enough.

Brother Dan said that he lives about eight miles from La Plata, where the tornado hit yesterday, and one of my favorite journallers, Lynda, lives really close too. Which means that when I finally get to go to DC, I can maybe get together with her, which I would just love to do!

This pain is making me tired, but I'm not really sure if I can go to sleep the way this damned tooth feels. The only thing that makes it go away is when I try to walk, then my knee hurts bad enough to make me forget about it for a minute.

I've finally got my scanner hooked up and running, but I'm too lazy to scan in all of the pictures that I want to.

So, I scanned in a couple anyway, ones of the best dog that I ever owned, Brownie. Imaginative name, heh. I don't know who gave her that name, but we had her about 17 years, I guess you could say that I grew up with her. I had to get her put to sleep when I came home on xmas leave from the army, if I remember correctly. These two pictures we from the days on East Park Street when I first started playing with cameras and processing my own film... they were taken with a Brownie 616 with B&W film and developed and printed in the bathroom. That must've been around 1957 or so. Yes, even at the time, I thought that taking pictures of Brownie with a brownie was a hoot.

I'm gonna try to get some sleep, anyway. I've already called in and told them that I was going to be late, at the very least.

Thanx for being here!
