Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Long day, and a discouraging one.

Karen and I met with the financial guy at 09:00 this morning and we had our eyes opened a bit.

The good news is that Karen gets to retire in January.

The bad news is that several things have to fall in place to make that happen.

No, none of those things involve the lottery or even "Found" money. But it will take some doing to get them done. And we can't procrastinate on them, and I am prone to procrastination.

One to other things here...

Remember when my hospital decided that I owed them money?

Well, my doc's office has gone the same route. About a month ago, I got a call from a collection agency. I referred them to Karen, who determined that no, we didn't owe them any money, and then they admitted that it was a mistake.

But wait! They decided to not tell the collection agency.

So I got another call again today. Same old shit, they couldn't tell us when the service was performed, or what it was, or even which doctor performed it, but by god, we owed them money!

Karen, my sweetheart, finally found out that they were billing us for a writeoff from about two years ago. Which in my mind is simply fraud.

Anyone without Karen's resources would have just paid them, and they would have gotten some free money. Fraudulently. Really pisses me off, that they can get by with that.

And, of course, no apology whatsoever.

Bean-counters. They continue to give medicine a bad name.

Since I didn't get to work until 10:30 this morning, it was a pretty good day, we had a really light afternoon. I'm on call tonight, and so far, so good. I hope that it stays that way.

Thanx for being here!
