Of course, I was at the hospital until 04:00, so I have an excuse. And I didn't really do that many patients, they just all had complications, various reasons why they couldn't be done.

I shaved and showered before I went to bed, thinking that I would get called again early, but the rad tech who was on yesterday did a bunch of patients for me this morning, about eight, in fact! I wrote her a nice little note thanking her.

I got called in about 14:30 for a 12-month-old who'd banged his head yesterday. There was no way that he was gonna hold still enough to get the exam done, so I sent him back for some medication.

Well, the meds that relax adults don't always relax kids... sometimes they get wired instead. And this one did. He'd been up all night and all day crying, but there was no way that he was gonna close his eyes... hell, he was the center of attention, and he was enjoying it!

And acting pretty darned normal, no signs of a closed-head injury... so the doc and the parents got together and agreed to no do the CT scan unless he started showing symptoms.

I really doubt that he'll be back for this injury, I'm sure that they took him home and laid him down and he'll sleep for 16 hours or so.

I came home after that exam was cancelled (I'd done several others in the interim) and sat down to read my e-mail and the phone rang... another head CT from the ER. Went in and did that (easy money!), came back home and I'm almost in the clear... someone will be there who does CTs at 19:00, and it's 18:23 right now. Of course, they could just get really busy (there are a lot of maniacs out on their motorcycles today) and they might need me just because of that.

Did I mention that it was a beautiful day? 90F here right now, southerly breeze, just really nice, I should be outside pulling weeds or something like that, but no, here I sit...

I haven't even turned on the news today, I need to go get my fix of CNN now.
